Six Days of Frustration — Would Not Stay Again
Pros:

Unfortunately, our six-day stay at the Hampton Inn Daytona Shores-Oceanfront was an extremely disappointing experience, and the biggest issue was the way we were treated by the staff.

I specifically selected and paid extra for a particular corner room because of its location and features. After arriving, I discovered that the room I had paid extra for was no longer available and that I had simply been moved to a different room. What made this even more frustrating was that nobody contacted me beforehand—not by phone, email, or text—to let me know that the room I had specifically selected and paid more for was unavailable.

When I called the front desk to address the issue, I spoke with Imani, who was rude, condescending, and dismissive throughout the conversation. She ultimately hung up on me. I then went downstairs to speak with her in person, and unfortunately, her attitude did not improve. She continued to speak to me in a rude and condescending manner throughout the entire conversation.

After a great deal of frustration, I was eventually moved to the original room that had been assigned to me before I had selected and paid extra for the more expensive corner room. At that point, I was simply exhausted by the situation and the way I had been treated.

The following day, I called to speak with the manager because I felt the situation needed to be addressed. Unfortunately, that conversation was just as disappointing. Rather than listening to my concerns or trying to resolve the situation, he was also rude and even threatened to hang up on me when I explained what had happened with Imani the night before.

I also requested that an itemized receipt be emailed or sent to me. The manager told me that I could walk down to the front desk and get one myself, but that he would not send it to me. I never ended up getting the receipt because every time I went to the front desk, Imani was there, and after the way I had already been treated, I did not feel comfortable having another interaction with her.

Mistakes happen, and I understand that room availability can sometimes change. What I don’t understand is the complete lack of communication and the way we were treated when we tried to address the issue. A simple explanation, apology, and professional attempt to resolve the situation would have made a huge difference.

Instead, we spent part of our six-day stay dealing with unnecessary frustration, rude customer service, and a manager who did not make us feel heard or valued as guests.

Based on this experience, I would not stay at this hotel again and cannot recommend it to others. The way guests are treated matters just as much as the room itself, and unfortunately, the customer service we received was unacceptable.

Low Quality Rooms - Great Breakfast
Pros:

The check-in experience was unfriendly. There were $114 in fees that we knew nothing about.

When I informed Anthony at the desk about the nonworking phone and frig he said there’s nothing he can do about it. I asked about changing rooms, and he said we can if we pay a $30 fee.

To keep it quick, several things are broken and rundown. The door to our room opens with a heavy shoulder shove because it isn’t hung properly. The phone doesn’t work, the frig doesn’t work, the place is messy overall.

Three stars instead of zero because the breakfast is out of this world! Truly the BEST hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. Super friendly and attentive staff.

On our second day, we ran into a maintenance man from Jamaica. I’ve been all over Jamaica so we hit it off. He got us a new refrigerator with a freezer so we will be able to freeze the breastmilk for our baby.

HORRIBLE! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT STAY HERE
Pros:

Absolutely nothing. This place was beyond horrible and should not represent a Hilton name

Cons:

Rooms were disgusting, lobby air did not work, night shift girl sat on her phone the entire time and even when standing you had to say excuse me as she would not acknowledge you. The elevators were very sketchy and out of date for renewal check fee. No beach access. Rooms smelled like pure animals and wet dog. Our other room you couldn’t open the balcony door without using all of your weight to open and close it. The pool was disgusting with so much crap floating in it. The phone don’t work in any of the rooms. Ice machine didn’t work on multiple floors including ours. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR THE PRICE FOR ONE NIGHT!

It was a decent stay for the weekend
Pros:

It was clean and breakfast was pretty good

Cons:

The elevator system was weird and the stairs to the beach was closed. Also, my toilet was broken and I reported to the front desk right after checkout. I had to go downstairs to use the toilet and finally the maid got someone to come fix it Saturday evening. So I went the whole first night not being able to use my toilet

Probably won't stay here again
Pros:

Being on the beach was nice.

Cons:

We didn't have direct access to the beach because two boards needed to be replaced at the bottom of the steps. Most people were just hopping the gate.

Pros:

Breakfast was phenomenal; our view of the beach was breathtaking. Such a great location; our room was very clean and nice! This hotel is located close to the private beach houses and condos, so the crowd at the beach was minimal, which was so nice.

Cons:

The parking was horrendous, unfortunately. That would be my only complaint.

This Place met our needs on a Budget
Pros:

The place needs some work on the Seawall after turtle nesting season as the beach access was closed off the pool deck due to stopped construction. November will make that happen. Lori at breakfast was the star of the day feeding my large crew with style. She is a star here. Our room had great AC and pretty good desk and housekeeping service with towels requested delivered. The front door was closed most of our stay which was a pain but it is all newly done now. The stairwell was creepy with no bottom landing and dark, really dangerous. The back door was locked for parking in the rear which made for a long walk to unload stuff with a front door messed up. The hallway door on the fourth floor leading to our room had a tight closer that scraped and bruised my arm pretty bad and I reported it with little response. Hot water took all of four minutes to get to the shower consistently. The ice machine being out on the fourth floor during our whole stay was not alright with no freezer area in the room refrigerators. The elevators are slow but work and have first floor progress monitor. Again on a Budget this place was clean, well air conditioned in the rooms only not the common areas, sufficiently provided breakfast with superstar, worth the money. Parking should be better after the Seawall repair by November but until then good luck as half the back lot is two gapping holes of washout. Dangerous to leave your car there with caution tape and all.

I probably avoid this hotel if you're looking for a nice beach experience. As you can't actually get on to the beach fr
Pros:

July 2026
I am currently staying here for a brief trip to Daytona. Partially business, partially pleasure. This is probably the third or fourth time I've stayed here over the years.

First time was probably 15-20 years ago. Had a pretty good time then. I was able to walk on the beach, had no complaints about the hotel that I recall.

The second or third time I stayed here was in November 2022 while I was in town to watch the Artemis 1 launch. Back then, I was surprised to see that the hotel was damaged from the hurricane/s that had passed the area a few months before. The pool deck was damaged and inaccessible. Part of the parking lot was closed as it had been damaged and undermined by the ocean, etc. Totally understandable, as that's out of their control.

My wife and step daughter stayed here over the summer and the pool deck was still not totally usable. They were unable to walk down to the beach, etc. has the stairs from the pool deck were closed and they were some other issues I believe. Hopefully it's not the same damage from way back in 2022. I would imagine they would have long ago fixed that.

Well I'm at the hotel currently, and am surprised to find out that they still have not fixed the issues with the pool deck and back parking lot. I went to take a evening stroll on the beach and the gate to the stairs is chained shut. There's also a wooden plank mailed across the walkway blocking the stairway. I asked about it at the front desk and they told me I had to walk down several buildings to get access to the beach. So I walked few buildings down in got access to the beach via a alleyway style public beach access. You can get to the beach by a public beach access parking lot with facilities a little further down as well.

I paid for a partial Ocean view room. But the partial Ocean view I got here is mostly a view of a building and parking lot. As the only way I can see some of the ocean is if I go out onto the balcony and turn left. But 95% of my view is the parking lot and the building next door and the main road.

Also, the whole front lobby area was blocked off as they're doing construction on the doorway and entry. They eventually opened it in the evening, but didn't remove all the construction equipment. I don't recall any notification about any the issues with the hotel when I reserved the room.

I stay had a lot of hotels including a lot of Hilton properties. I'm in a hotel almost weekly due to work and personal travel. Based on this stay, and the other stays I mentioned, in my opinion, this is one of the worst oceanfront Beach hotel experiences I've personally had in about 25+ years near constant travel.

Having said, I think the hotel is trying to fix the issues. But at the moment it's a little bit of a hot mess. On the bright side, the breakfast was pretty good, and the morning breakfast at front desk staff was excellent. I wasn't totally thrilled with the reception I got when I arrived though.

Another thing I just thought about is the parking situation. This hotel probably has 120-150 rooms. And if I had to guess they probably have 40 or 50 parking spots. But several of them are in the section of the back parking lot that is damaged and roped off. There might actually be less parking spots than that. I'm not sure how people normally park here with a bunch of business travelers with one car each.

Originally I gave the hotel at once I review because I was so frustrated initially. But after some reflection and having a pretty decent breakfast and a really super nice walk on the beach last night, I deleted my review and and resubmitting it as a three-star review. At best, this hotel may only get a four-star review if they fix all the issues. But I'll wait until I stay here again to see if they fix any of the issues I encountered during this day and the last couple stays.
