The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton

Some friends and I visited the Caledonian for afternoon drinks. The servers and staff, including Leah, Tegan, Tahlia, Heather and Lucy were all fantastic. The drinks and nibbles were delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Everything was excellent! Very warm welcome and excellent service. The team - Lukasz, Paola, Jack and Louise took excellent care of us. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great, highly recommended!

Staff were phenomenal, go above and beyond, exceeded all expectations.
Beautiful hotel. Good breakfast and a nice bar.

I went to celebrate my exams, and was greeted by Isla who was very welcoming and made me feel right at home. I got drinks and was served by lukasz, talia, Lucy, Kate, aparna, Magnus and George. Great service!

The Caledonian felt like 6 stars not just 5. Our room was large with very high ceilings , a very comfortable king bed with plenty of room for an extra bed and the same goes for the tremendous and well appointed bathroom. The breakfast was a perfect way to start every day. The food was cooked so well and authentic - the haggis is must must must eat here. The service everywhere was great and I would definitely recommend a nice scotch at the bar. The concierge was terrific with great restaurant ideas for dinner and arranging a car and driver for us for a day in the countryside. Our driver Michael was amazing and so knowledgeable. Finally the location is literally at the center of the universe in Edinburgh we can’t wait to come back and stay again. Thanks you!!!

Every thing was good but the people are there the reciption was bad and they made me pay for one more room just to clear I had a baby

We’ve been here before, and it’s our favorite place to come, for a wee get away. I love the vibe, the staff are so friendly and the rooms are amazing! Staff made us feel so welcome and special. I really enjoyed our stay, and we had the best view!

Absolutely loves our time in the court everyone service and food was fantastic. The staff including Tahlia, Lucy, Ellis, Heather, Rebecca, Leah and Toby were so great! Reception were incredibly helpful aswell especially Danny R!

I visited The Caledonian in Edinburgh in September 2025 for a friend’s wedding, and it was an unforgettable experience.

The venue is absolutely stunning, with beautiful interiors and incredible views of Edinburgh Castle. Every member of staff we encountered was warm, professional and attentive, making the whole day run seamlessly.

The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic. It was clear that a great deal of care had gone into every detail.

As a travel creator, I’m fortunate to visit many hotels and venues across the UK, and The Caledonian truly stands out. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an elegant and memorable wedding venue.

We stayed at The Caledonian in July to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and were extremely disappointed with our experience.

As Hilton Diamond members, we booked a King Premier Room and expected an experience consistent with both the room category and the price. Unfortunately, our room directly overlooked an active construction site, with significant construction noise from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Any time we returned to our room during those hours, the noise was impossible to ignore.

We contacted the front desk immediately after check-in and were told the hotel was sold out and there was nothing they could do. What was most frustrating was not simply the construction—it was the complete lack of advance disclosure. There was no warning when booking and no mention of the construction or potential noise in any of the hotel’s pre-arrival communications. Had we known, we absolutely would have booked elsewhere.

Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, many comparable hotels in the area were also sold out, leaving us with little practical alternative.

The Caledonian has an excellent location, but at this price point, guests should be informed in advance when their stay may be significantly impacted by construction. Paying guests—particularly those booking premium room categories—deserve the opportunity to make an informed decision before arriving.

Based on our experience, I would recommend considering one of the competing hotels in the area at a similar price point, at least while the construction is ongoing. If you are considering The Caledonian, I strongly suggest contacting the hotel before booking and specifically asking whether your room will face the construction and whether you should expect daytime noise.
