You Made this a Very Happy Birthday!
Pros:

Happy Birthday to me! Spent a truly lovely, solo weekend in Tampa. I poured over many Trip Advisor reviews before choosing the Marriott Water Street. It met all of my expectations and I enjoyed your beautiful hotel immensely. My top priority was security and location. Check! I was comfortable going out at night on the waterfront and walking the street in all directions. The convention center is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Of course, the price point heightened my expectations and the hotel delivered. I ate in 4 of the 6 hotel restaurants. Had delicious shrimp and crab enchiladas at LONA. Enjoyed a tasty Pressed Cuban at A La Carte. I chose the Anchor and Brine breakfast buffet on Saturday--even though I wanted the chocolate banana crepes--and enjoyed all of the offerings. I never do, but I did the scrambled eggs rather than an omelette and was very pleased. What did they put in those eggs? My room, a deluxe king, on the 24th floor was spacious, well-appointed and had a balcony that overlooked the waterfront. I love that the A/C vent was not over or directed toward the bed, I don't like cold drafts. The TV is positioned at just the right height, centrally located in front of the bed. My extra pillows that I ordered--1 foam and 1 down, was waiting for me when I entered the room. Check! My room was the 4th from the elevator. I never heard the elevator or any of the other travelers once I closed my door. I must mentioned the names of the professional, attentive and helpful staff: Alexa, Brent, Malachi, Gloria, Precious and Chris. Each time we spoke I could see their smiles--even over the phone. My one complaint has to do with a couple of bellmen (appeared to be older than age 40)--one at the curve and another inside. Neither was helpful and I had 2 pieces of luggage. Didn't appear to have a lot of joy for the job.

This hotel is built on broken promises and misleading its guests
Pros:

Good location

Cons:

Our experience with this hotel was extremely disappointing and unacceptable.

We were misled about the parking charges and the destination fee. We spoke with the manager several times and repeatedly asked for written confirmation of her promise that the destination fee would not be charged. Despite these clear assurances, the fee was still charged to my card.

About a week later, I called the hotel to file a complaint and spoke with the main supervisor. She promised that the money would be refunded. Unfortunately, she did not keep her promise, and the refund was never issued.

In addition, the shower in our room was broken. As compensation, we were offered a complimentary breakfast, but the hotel later charged $150 to my card for that supposedly free breakfast.

I have never experienced this level of dishonesty at every stage of a hotel stay. Promises were repeatedly made and then ignored. We intend to continue pursuing this matter, as these charges remain unresolved.

This experience left us with an extremely negative impression of the hotel, its management, and the way guests are treated. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Comfortable and Relaxing
Pros:

Great place to stay for a couple days while visiting Tampa.

Close to the attractions and place to eat.

Rooms are large and beds are super comfortable.

M Lounge is large and always has something good to snack on.

Three on site places to eat and with the sky bridge you have access to another three across at the JW Marriott.

Great pool location with private cabanas and sitting areas.

It is really busy here with conferences at the convention center or events at the hotel itself.

Spoiled by greed

Lovely hotel

Cons:

Breakfast horrid, half the time no buffet as functions
At every turn they try to rip you off. It was constant and obvious resulting in an argument when I checked out

Nice hotel on the river walk, with amenities of 2 hotels.
Pros:

We had a water view king room at the Tampa Marriott Water Street, which is right on the Riverwalk. It was right next door to the JW Marriott that we had stayed at in June. We found the room at the Marriott to be spacious, and the bathrooms similar to the JW. We found that compared to JW, the Marriott lobby was bigger, with more lounging and work station areas but also more people and noisy/lively. It has an outdoor restaurant overlooking the river, as well as a high end Mexican restaurant LONA (which I highly recommend) which provided great food and an escape from the crowds when you sit at their bar/lounge area. The outdoor restaurant/bar also had live entertainment during happy hour.

What I particularly like about these 2 properties is that you can enjoy the amenities of both location by just walking accross the street via the skybridge. We went to Driftlight Steakhouse at JW in the morning for breakfast and had the buffet. The food was wonderful, service even better. We found check in to be very easy, especially since there was a dedicated reservation desk for Marriott Platinum Elite and such. It was good to have since the day we were there there was a conference/event happening that weekend.

The only disappointment is the Perk Coffee and Provisions shop near the reception area, which was WAY overpriced and service slow and unfriendly. For most of their items on the shelves there was NO price. You had to ask what the price for each of the items, ranging from water to the alcohol.

In summary, a very good stay at the Tampa Marriott Water street. Good alternative to JW based on the price. Also, in the future would book a balcony room with water views.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful neighborhood
Pros:

This is a beautiful hotel. The lobby itself is extra extraordinary, the dining venues are excellent and the front desk staff is fantastic. We had no complaints during our four day. It’s in a great neighborhood, right across from the free trolley. And we were very happy.

Pros:

I love the location of it for the view.

Cons:

I paid the room Probably about a week before we got there which was fine. When I was checking for the keys, they said that it wasn’t booked properly because there was not an incidental money added to my account which ended up being $750. We were forced to use their valet service at $59 a day but that came out of the $750. If I would’ve known all of this ahead of time, it wouldn’t bothered me but next time we come to the area I won’t be staying there.

Superb lodging on the water in downtown Tampa.
Pros:

A nice property in downtown Tampa on the riverfront. The service at this hotel is outstanding , the rooms are in excellent shape and the bar and restaurants have a variety of offerings. The Weekend Brunch is something you must experience. The Valet Parking has very attentive staff and when we called for our SAV, it always arrived quickly. The property is within walking distance to The Benchmark Arena and The Aquarium. You can also catch the Tram which runs to Ybor City right outside the front door. If your travels bring you to Tampa you should consider this Marriott Hotel!

As close to 5* with minor hiccups, for Platinum Elite.
Pros:

I have stayed at this property several times in the past and this stay was exceptional with some minor hiccups. However, it should be noted that having status at this property is a major perk. As usual, I will write the review with PROS & CONS.

PROS:
!. Great location in downtown Tampa right on the water, with amazing views.
2. Employees are well trained and personable.
3. Concierge lounge on 24th floor, has one of the nicest food spreads for evening reception, dessert, and breakfast.
4. Fitness center, very nice, though they had a Peloton bike in the past that isn't there anymore. However, use of the JW Marriott gym which does have a Peloton which regrettably was not set up properly.
5. Excellent pool with great views.
6. Breakfast when lounge is closed is full buffet with omelet station.
7. Beautiful lobby and outside sitting area.

CONS:
1. Valet parking only, normally $55, was $27 for our special event.
2. $35 a day Desiination Fee, (money grab) (waived for our event). While this fee offers $20 in food credit daily and other things you probably won't use, it is useless if you have status and free breakfast and concierge access.
3. Breakfast buffet-free for status $38 a person otherwise.

SUMMARY:
With status or at an event that waives some of the fees a no-brainer, otherwise have to weigh the costs.

Shoutouts to Carl in the Concierge Lounge who has been there 26 years and is amazingly attentive. Also to Cole & Dillon in the JW Marriott Fitness area and the two Enginners who spend 60 minutes trying to get the Peloton to work only to discover that some manager had the code and wasn't available on a holiday weekend.

I wrote an email to hotel management the day I left complimenting these employees and suggesting the code be left on site to avoid future issues, but I never received a reply.

Cheers!

Marius
