Enjoyed at stay at The Brydone Hotel especially the friendly staff & very comfy Queen bed.

Excellent reception.

Cons:

It's a bit of a rabbit warren. I couldn't find the car park but after checking in at reception I was advised it was right at the end of the block at a guest entrance off it.
They need to have information advising new guests to check in at reception first.

Being a bit romantic, and looking at pictures of a beautiful old building. I expected an old world feel but most of the rooms are in a giant modern extension attached to the original hotel.
However, I did have a comfortable stay and had a snack in the bar which is in the old part of the original building by the reception area.

Quaint, clean and very welcoming place to stay.
Pros:

Great character, with vaulted ceiling dining room with fireplace lounge area.
The bedroom was spacious enough with a good en-suite shower.
Staff were super friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

The mattress was less comfortable than we like, but supportive.
No extraction in the bathroom for shower steam and the heater in the bathroom did not work.

Check in was seamless.
The room and bathroom were spotless, we could not fault the housekeeping at all.
We ordered a takeaway coffee and it was not very nice. The barista was not well trained.
There was a good choice at breakfast, the poached eggs are perfection and this time the coffee was good.

Cons:

Cheap toilet paper! *shudder* but that's all really. Sure a coffee machine in the room would be nice but for the price we paid we were happy.
