The location of the hotel was very convenient.
The aircon in the room was broken. The windows did not open. It made the room extremely uncomfortable (during a hot summer even for Scotland). As a result, I barely slept. This was not worth the £250 I paid for the night. When I told the staff in the morning, they did not seem to care.
In addition, the bathroom's cleanliness was not quite what one would expect from a £250/night hotel. There was also a moth flying in the room.
Good location. Breakfast is good. The bar area and food were good.
No parking. The parking is a long ways away and it cost about 20 per night even with the 20% discount. Be prepared to hike your luggage straight uphill on cobblestone, most likely in the rain. The bed was not the most comfortable either.
La struttura era stata scelta per la sua bellezza architettonica, sfortunatamente ricoperta da impalcature per ristrutturazione. Il pavimento della stanza 223 era irregolare, pericoloso specialmente di notte quando si è assonnati.
La posizione è centrale ed è ideale per le visite in città e vivere i locali di notte. La camera è piuttosto tranquilla e pulita, il bagno adeguato. Il personale è cortese, in particolare quello dell'area colazione. Dopo una iniziale difficoltà con la camera, siamo stati ben seguiti in italiano da un ragazzo italo-britannico dello staff (Enrico) per tutto il soggiorno.
Colazione senza lode né infamia. Personale molto cortese, però.
Most hotels offer a Netflix and Prime on their TV’s or a cast to TV !? I have teenagers and after a long day touring the Castle, Mary King Close and all the attractions in Edinburgh it’s always nice to relax infront of the telly and have options. Quite frankly; not worth the money! Will reconsider.
Just the fact that we were able to check in very early was amazing. Breakfast seemed spendy but was worth it. At one point, a helpful staff person was able to let us in the lower entry so we didn't have to climb back up the hill!
The scaffolding/construction outside made the entrance harder to find. I know that's not something you have a lot of control over.

The room was large and perfectly located in the old town next to the train station. The room was clean and comfortable.
My luggage was dropped off 45 minutes before check in, when I arrived an hour after check in, I was told my bags were taken to my room. They weren’t there when I arrived, I tried to call down to reception with no answer. When I went down to reception I was told my bags were delivered, and it took them over an hour to locate them in the hotel. My room was extremely hot and I had 3 fans running the whole time to attempt to keep it cool.
Staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly.
Initially had a room which required multiple lifts and walking through a looooong corridor. Seeing that I am a solo traveller and would like easy access to my room, my request to change rooms were accommodated and I was very grateful for the cage and assistance throughout.
