An Experience! Entertaining Host
Sem água quente para tomar banho, ao solicitar o concerto fizeram pouco caso!!!!
Alles war außergewöhnlich! Stilistisch passend, wie auf den Fotos zu sehen (eben ein Castle :-)). Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich. Leider waren wir nur eine Nacht. Essen war sehr gut, ebenso das Frühstück mit frischem Omelete mit den gewünschten Zutaten oder Crèpes. Das Schloss ist - bis auf eine Kleinigkeit, s.u. - sehr gut gepflegt.
Die 2 Heli-Landeplätze, die dem Aussehen nach vermutlich eher nicht mehr im Einsatz sind. Früher waren wohl auch ganz große Persönlichkeiten zu Gast, z.B. Bill Clinton. Man sieht schon: schwierig, überhaupt etwas Negatives zu finden :-)

Room and bath conditions were not as expected. The bad smell of the bathroom was there.
Very beautiful castle with lots of history and character . The owner Brian was so attentive and helpful and had an amazing memory for names and he gave a lovely history about the Castle before dinner in the bar with complimentary prosecco around a burning log fire . Thank you . We will definitely re visit when we are back in the area and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the amazing food

This was a wonderful way to end our time in Ireland! Abbeyglen Castle is right on the edge of town, and the main streets of Clifden are easily accessible within a five-minute walk. The castle is also at the start of the Sky Road from Clifden, which is a beautiful and fun drive to take.
You can feel the history of Abbeyglen as soon as you walk through the doors, and you’ll quickly learn even more during the owner’s champagne toast in the evening! The owner is a vibrant and engaging man who clearly enjoys getting to know his guests and making them feel comfortable and welcome. The bar had great drinks and live music, including a performance by a well-known Irish singer and pianist!
We only had breakfast at the castle, but there were plenty of options and we really enjoyed our meals. We stayed in one of the larger rooms, which was incredibly spacious and included a sitting area, desk, fireplace, clawfoot tub, and large four-poster bed. It was truly a treat to stay in such a historic place.
There are parts of the castle that feel a bit dated, but we appreciated that the owners are clearly making an effort to preserve its history and character. We were also pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices, especially given the impressive clientele and atmosphere. Overall, Abbeyglen was a memorable and charming place to stay, and we’re so glad we chose it to finish our trip.
