The Belsfield Hotel

Below average at best, shabby room, dining room poor ,overall not what was expected for the price.

The building works at the front of the hotel/dining area facing the lake ruined the view. There was no proper lift for our buggy. Our twin room had some mould in the shower and cracks in the ceiling and on the walls- certain areas need a serious renovation. Most upsetting was our very poor room view (see photos attached) - We attended the hotel 2 years earlier and had the most beautiful lake view. While we understand not every room can have the perfect view, the view we had was unacceptable and to make things worse; on our last day builders attended the porch right outside our window as we were getting ready and so we had to close the curtains to protect our privacy. The room was also poorly ventilated and there was no air conditioning so we had to sleep with the window open which was not ideal.

I paid extra to upgrade the room with balloons and rose petals. They didn't include the rose petals. It was my partner birthday and that was part of the celebrations. Although it was somthing as small as that the first impression I was really disappointed as I even confirmed it on the phone the day prior.

The additional charge for parking was extreme, and should be included in the charge of the room.

We were surprised the main dining room was not used for evening meals as on our previous stays. We missed the beautiful restaurant with tablecloths. However the food was very good. Our room was quite cold and the oil heater provided was insufficient.

The lift, so out of date and people forget to close the doors so it meant walking up the stairs.

On check in we were met by a very professional and helpful member of staff who took our details and then proceeded to charge us an extra £15 for our parking, which considering the car park is attached to the hotel seems a bit much on top of the £145 we'd already paid for the room. He then gave us directions to our room. He said that ordinarily, although our room was on the ground floor, we would be expected to go up a floor in the lift, across the hotel and then back down a stairwell to the ground floor. However, as there was no function on in the restaurant that day, we could go through it and into the corridor where our room was situated. We attempted to do this but our way was barred with ladders as there was a team of painters in the corridor. We then had to double back and use the lift that was only big enough for one of us with the suitcase. We then carried our luggage across the first floor and back down a twisting staircase. We had to interrupt the decorators and my husband got covered in wet paint as we struggled with our luggage. I would point out that staff had offered to help us but it was our second night in the Lakes (we had stayed somewhere else the previous night) and it didn't seem fair to make the staff carry all our bags so we declined. The painters were situated directly outside of our room as well and were playing music. The previous evening had been spent in another hotel in a room of the same value and the contrast between to the two hotels was striking. The room we were in felt stark and in need of updating even though it had obviously just been repainted and the view (see attached photo) was appalling. The bathroom had been cleaned properly, there was water still in the sink and the whole space just had a feel of neglect.

We were placed in a room in an annex area which was not to the level of the features of the main hotel that was superb.

I felt the breakfast was a bit kaotic

Our bed was a standard double and were used to a super king so didn’t sleep well, however that is not a criticism as it is personal choice. The bed linen was top quality.

Breakfast squeezed into a corner, only one coffee machine and toaster.

الباركيه فيه صوت و زجاج النافذة وصخ اول ماوصلنا رغم اني حاجزه الغرفه الكبيره عشان الاطلاله الجميله و بلغناهم وبكرا الصباح حاولوا ينظفونها نقطه يشكرون عليها بس تمنيت استلمها نظيفه .. موظفه الاستقبال اسلوبها حاد ودفشه ومارضت تدخلنا لين جت 3 مع ان واضح الغرفه جاهزه والدليل طلعوا شنطنا للغرفه من الساعه 2م
