Location
The style is old
The staff were lovely, breakfast had plenty of choice, and the hotel itself looks great. The location is hard to beat — you’re literally a few steps away from the main pedestrian street with all the shops and restaurants, but because the hotel is slightly tucked away, you don’t hear any of that noise. It was super quiet at night, which we really appreciated. All the big sights are an easy walk too.
The only real issue was our room. We were put right next to the lift, and every time it arrived there was a loud chime. The room door has gaps and basically no soundproofing, so we heard that beep constantly. It got old really fast, especially when you’re trying to relax or sleep. If you book here, just make sure you ask for a room far from the elevator.
A couple of other things surprised us. At check-in they took a deposit that was close to 50% of what we paid for the whole stay. That’s a big chunk of money to have on hold, and it wasn’t made clear beforehand. Also, the hotel rules mention a fine if you lose your key card. I’ve never come across that in a five-star place before — felt a bit stingy
