Expensive

Evening meal in restaurant
Food poor Rex wind served chilled very dissatisfied
Location and staff
Average food quality and over priced
Beautiful setting in superb gardens. Very friendly resident cat. Excellent breakfasts in lovely setting. Location about 3km from central York was fine. We made the return journey 3 times, once by Uber, once by bus (very convenient) and once on foot. All very easy. We had dinner in one night and enjoyed it very much.
Spa was good but closed for repairs one day and a little hard to navigate the system. Indoor pool was good but small of course.
Beautiful setting. Great staff. Delicious salad for dinner and great breakfast - I got upgraded to a lovely room looking out across the countryside.
Superb breakfast, appeared individually cooked. Fresh fruit salad and porridge on request.
The Hall was ideally located just out of town with the benefit of a serene country feel.
The restaurant meals were exquisite but expensive. A more moderate priced menu would have been appreciated on alternate nights.
Stunning location and quintessential British experience
I understand the hotel’s period character but some areas of the hotel need to be refreshed
Staff were excellent. The rooms are lovely and old fashioned.
Nothing really. Was all good.
All the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was superb, with a large choice of food (both hot and cold) and served quickly and professionally was excellent staff. Our room was very pleasant with good views of the extensive and wonderful gardens.
We would have preferred a stand-alone shower rather than one in a bath, and we found the bed may have been less supportive than we are used to. However these considerations could be more due to our age and general health, making aches & pains easier to aggravate.
Amazing food, staff were all lovely, service was outstanding, garden was wonderful!
A beautiful setting. The gardens and park were just lovely. The staff were wonderful too although, bless them, they could have been given summer uniforms!
No air conditioning but it’s an old house
Very Friendly, efficient staff. Lovely grounds.
Interesting food but same menu every night.
Location out of town.
Lovely historic building with pretty grounds
Nothing
The staff made it. They were absolutely lovely.
There are limitations which come with the age of the building but overall it’s loveliness makes up for it.
