We really enjoyed our stay at Quinta das Lágrimas, and it’s hard not to get swept up in the story behind the place. The hotel’s name 'Lágrimas' (tears) comes from the tragic love story of Pedro and Inês, and once you know it, the gardens and the whole atmosphere feel that little bit more romantic and a little bit more sad in the best possible way.
The staff were genuinely wonderful. We had a bit of drama with our hire car, which ended up needing a tow truck, and they couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. It made a stressful moment feel manageable, and we were really grateful.
The location worked perfectly for exploring Coimbra. The top tip given to us by staff was to grab a taxi up to the top of the town, wander around the university and the sights, and then just stroll back down through the old streets. It’s such an easy and enjoyable way to see everything without wearing yourself out.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful - the gardens, the historic building and the pool are all gorgeous. Our room was comfortable, but a little on the dated side compared with the rest of the property. Still, the overall charm of the place more than made up for it.
Quinta das Lágrimas gave us a stay full of history, kindness, and lovely surroundings - a place we’re really glad we experienced.
We’d probably say that the room décor felt a little out of step with the elegance of the rest of the building - a touch more dated than the gorgeous public spaces - though that might just come down to personal taste.

Un hotel que de lujo o de 5 estrellas no tiene nada, viejo, descuidado, jardines abandonados, desayuno malo, restauración carísima para la calidad que tenía, piscina sin atención con platos sucios de la comida a las 19:00h…vamos 0 recomendable.
Das Frühstück war sehr vielfältig und der Service sehr aufmerksam. Die Lage des Hotels ist ideal um die Sehenswürdigkeiten von Coimbra zu erkunden.
Das Gebäude ist wunderschön, das Personal immer sehr nett. Alles war sauber und nett hergerichtet.
Wunderschönes, stilvolles Hotel mit riesigem Garten, tollem Pool und sehr gutem Restaurant. Extrem freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal.
