Our Wedding Experience
Pros:

Before booking our wedding here we sat down with Lorraine and discussed what was available to us. Lorraine had asked about potential dates and we had said about the first week in November 2027, as we got engaged on the 6th November. We were leaning more towards the 8th November as it was cheaper for a weekday wedding. However, Lorraine had said the 7th November (Sunday) is the same price as a weekday wedding, and that we could book out the Garden Room on the 6th November for a private anniversary dinner with some of our guests as well as a farewell breakfast on the 8th November.

We really loved this idea and it became a huge part of us choosing our wedding date and having our wedding at this venue. Not long after paying the deposit, I spoke to the restaurant manger to begin booking the Garden Room on the 6th and 8th November. She told me this was her first time hearing about this and that the Garden Room cannot be booked on a weekend. I emailed the wedding team to inform them of this (thinking it was a simple fix) for them to confirm that the Garden Room cannot be booked on those dates despite Lorraine assuring us this could be done. There was a lot of back and forth, and a very clear lack of accountability from the venues side. Even though we were going to pay thousands to have our wedding at this venue, they stated it wouldn’t be “cost effective” to book that room out to us. Their alternatives were unhelpful and didn’t reflect the idea that was originally sold to us. One option was to book the room out for about an hour, pay a non-refundable £400 booking fee, and pay for all the meals on one card. This was completely different to what Lorraine had presented us with.

I moved on from this as there was no resolution and I didn’t want this to affect our relationship with our venue. I spoke to Mia in March to confirm things in the contract regarding confetti and food. She confirmed indoor confetti was allowed and that we could provide our own food, as well as organise external catering. I then spent weeks researching pizza trucks for our late night food, and emailed the wedding team our plans. I was told that only the hotel provides all food/drink.

At this stage, I was deeply frustrated that this was the second time I was assured I could do something, and then, after spending so much time and effort organising it, I’m being told I’m not allowed.

My email was ignored, so I called and spoke to Mia who remembered informing me I could arrange for external catering. However, she argued that she didn’t say I could have a pizza truck - this was the problem, there was a lack of communication on their end. I advised Mia she made it very clear I could have external caterers brought it - there was no mention of types of catering I wasn’t allowed, and if there was, it should have been communicated to me in the first instance. I asked Mia what the difference was between us having a pizza truck compared to an ice cream truck - she stated “well how many people do you know that have had vomiting and diarrhoea after eating pizza compared to ice cream?”. This was probably the most bizarre justification for refusing us a specific type of catering.

I genuinely wanted to come to a resolution and work through this, but Mia informed me that she had spoke to the owner who decided that he would give our money back. So instead of working things out, they decided to cancel our wedding and cast us aside, despite them causing the problems a few weeks after we signed a contract.

I’m not one for leaving negative reviews, but my short experience with the Clandeboye has caused me significant stress and heartbreak. We never thought we would encounter such issues when planning for such a special time in our lives. We’re relieved we’ve seen this side of Clandeboye early on, as I couldn’t imagine how bad they would be a year down the line.

We will be back !!
Pros:

Our first time staying here and I hope it will not be the last. A lovely cosy atmosphere in a rural setting. We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and professional. Our meal was of an equally high standard, as was the wine selection.
The bedroom was also vert well appointed and comfortable.
All in all, a great experience.

Great service and nice location, just a shame it was so much money for a relatively small and hot room
Pros:

I probably wouldn't stay here again for the money. It was expensive for a relatively small and hot room.

However, it was spotlessly clean, the staff were charming and the food good. The location was peaceful, even though I was woken up several times by doors banging in the corridor.

Spring Overnight
Pros:

A good value deal for overnight with bed, breakfast and dinner a 2 glasses of Prosecco.

The welcome from the ladies at reception was warm and professional and we were promptly directed to the Dressing Room Suite. This was a spacious suite with ground floor terrace. Given the sun was out it was lovely to have this outdoor space. The suite was well furnished, the bathroom large and exceptionally clean.

A nice little touch too, as this was a birthday treat, a card and some chocolates in the room.

Dinner in The Garden Room was OK. We thought the food was a little bit tasteless although our desserts were better. The service was friendly but a little bit patchy during our meal.

After a good nights sleep we headed for breakfast. I’m afraid this was disappointing - as a vegetarian- I ordered potato and soda bread, mushrooms and tomatoes. A large plate arrived with bread, one mushroom and half a tomato. It looked rather meagre on the large plate. All it needed was a few more mushrooms and maybe even a whole tomato! The meat eater got a more substantial offer.

Check out was smooth and efficient.

Valentine's night away!
Pros:

My partner and I stayed here in January for our anniversary and was so impressed, we stayed again on Valentines night. Another 5 star stay! We just cannot fault this hotel at all. We opted for the "Time Together" package deal which consists of 1 night's B&B, 3-course a la carte dinner, a bottle of prosecco, espresso martinis and salted caramel brownies. Cannot recommend this highly enough and well worth it if you ask me! Service was second to none, as always, and we were well looked after by the lovely Andrea. We asked if we could bring our desserts and martinis up to our room which wasn't a problem.
Our room again was immaculate, lovely and spacious with a comfy bed and pillows and.such an amazing powerful shower. It had everything we needed...coffee machine, robes, slippers, safe, iron etc. I requested for our breakfast to be brought up to our room the following morning along with a later check out and again, Janet was very accommodating and this was no proble whatsoever .This is by far our favourite hotel we've stayed at a few! Can't wait to return to check out their outdoor seating area. Thank you to all the staff involved who looked after us during our stay. We look forward to our next visit!

Perfect Wedding Day at Clandeboye Lodge
Pros:

We had our wedding at Clandeboye Lodge on 24 April 2026 and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience from start to finish.

From our very first show-around in December right through to the big day, the Events Team of Ian, Gia, Lorraine and Mai were absolutely fantastic. There was always someone available to answer questions, whether by phone or email, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. The whole planning process was smooth and completely stress-free, which made such a difference.

On the day itself, everything was flawless. We held our ceremony in the Blackwood Suite, enjoyed the afternoon in the Sheridan Suite and then celebrated into the evening in the Clandeboye Suite — each space looked incredible and was perfectly set up.

The staff were exceptional throughout. A special mention to Graham, who kept us informed all day and to Marvin, who ensured everything ran seamlessly into the evening. Their attention to detail and professionalism really stood out.

Our guests had an amazing time — many were visiting Clandeboye Lodge for the first time and were hugely impressed. We’ve had so many compliments about the food, particularly the beef, which was absolutely perfect.

The bedrooms were excellent, the dressing room was ideal for getting ready and the ultra-lux suite was just incredible, such a special touch to end the day.

We’re so grateful to the entire team for helping to deliver the perfect wedding. We couldn’t recommend Clandeboye Lodge highly enough.

Lovely experience!
Pros:

Lovely veggie breakfast and restaurant food was lovely too. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Room was a great size, large comfy bed and very clean. Would recommend to anyone needing to stay in the area.

Cons:

Not much you could do better. Only suggestion I would have would be to have maybe one more veggie option on the restaurant menu. But to be honest the food I have was delicious.
