Relaxed atmosphere, warm energy, central location. Few mins walk to York minster. Fabulous breakfast, wonderful air con and excellent service. Loved the pantry and the record player.
Lovely decor, great location and helpful stuff
Bed was very soft
Everything was great!
Nothing
Good location, walking distance to the historic centre of York
Comfortable bed
Authentic historic atmosphere
Snacks and drinks available during the stay
Cleanliness was beneath expectations: dirty toilet in the lobby when checking in, hairs found on the bed upon arrival, black mold around the bathroom sink, dirty spare roll of toilet paper in the bathroom cabinet, only superficial housekeeping service during stay (did not replenish toilet paper nor tissues, only very limited cleaning)
- for a hotel at this price point, which positions itself as a luxury property, this was unacceptable
No ventilation in the room (impossible to open windows, no fan or other ventilation in the bathroom): room was hot and damp after every shower, and stayed like this for several hours
Poor sound isolation (the pantry for hotel guests was just outside our room, and we could hear guests come and go all evening; the pantry was supposed to close at 10 pm, but stayed open longer in the evening)
Despite specifically choosing a larger room type (and paying a significant premium for this), the room was small and impractically furnished; the signature doll house and record player took up most of the space that could have been used to place our personal belongings
Staff was polite, but when the cleanliness problems above were mentioned only the bare minimum was done to improve the situation (extra toilet paper brought to the room, hair removed from the bed)
Very nice and clean, very big comfortable bed. Had Netflix in room which was big plus. Had radio next to bed.
Very big bath that fit the 2 of us which was great! Only trade off for us is we were in room 1 which was bottom floor so couldn’t really open windows (not sure if rooms higher up could)
Location great. Style of property great. Atmosphere great.
Cost for parking at 50 pounds was a surprise and travelling on Australian dollars adds $100 to our stay
Quirky
Small room
Stort härligt rum. Trevligt med ett rum med chips, godis och kaka som man fritt fick gå och äta av
Pantry, toiletries, bathroom
No suitcase rack.
Lovely hotel, about 10 minutes walk from the old city and the Minster.
The room was very comfortable and immaculately clean and the staff were friendly and very efficient.
Loved the baggage pick up from the train station, that made it very convenient for us.
Only issue was the 60+ stairs that we had to climb to find our room. The Receptionists comment about a ‘few stairs’ when we checked in was a bit of an understatement. As we checked out we were told that there are other similar rooms more conveniently located. If only we had been told that on check-in.
We were able to get in and out through the back door during the day, which cut it down to 2 flights of stairs, but the back-door is shut at night.
Comfort, Staff, free goodies 😊😊
