Unfortunately, my stay at Foreshore Hotel was a very disappointing experience, and I ended up checking out after just one night even though I had booked for three nights.
The hotel is located on a very busy street, and the noise and general commotion outside could be heard from the room. The area immediately outside the hotel was also extremely dirty, with huge rats running around. I understand that the surrounding area may not be within the hotel’s control, but it definitely added to the overall negative experience.
To be fair, the room itself was clean and spotless, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were also nice and friendly, which was one of the few positives.
However, there were several issues that made my stay very inconvenient. The TV in my room was not working, which was disappointing because relaxing and watching TV was something I had been looking forward to. I was also staying on the second floor and had very poor Vodacom network reception in my room. I needed to hotspot my work laptop from my phone, but the lack of network connection meant I couldn't work.
Unfortunately, the hotel Wi-Fi was also not working. I went down to reception to ask for the Wi-Fi password and was given one, but I still couldn't connect. There was therefore no reliable internet option available to me.
My booking included a breakfast buffet, but by that point I was so put off by the overall experience that I wasn't even interested in having breakfast. I ultimately decided to check out after the first night and return home, as this was simply not the level of convenience or experience I expected.
I also made the mistake of not checking the reviews or researching the hotel's location before booking. If I had done so, I probably would have reconsidered. Lesson learnt.
I will definitely not be back.

Nice spacious room in a centrally located place in the city. Very clean and comfortable
The service entrance could do with a bit of tidying up. While its a common area for 3 other hotels there it wouldn't hurt to combine to get it cleaned up thoroughly everyday as this is where clients get dropped off or picked up by ehailing services
I recently stayed at Hollow on the Square City Hotel CBD in Cape Town. The reception staff were wonderful and very welcoming throughout my stay. The room itself was humongous and offered plenty of space, which I really appreciated.
The location is convenient, with about a pleasant 15-minute walk to the V&A Waterfront using the footbridge.
Unfortunately, there was a noticeable musty smell in the room, possibly because it may not have been used for some time. The duvet cover also had quite a strong unpleasant smell, although thankfully the bed sheets smelled fresh and clean.
