My friends and I were looking for a fancy tea service and were not disappointed. The tea was exquisite and the tea infused cocktails were to die for. The food was great but more than anything Judie and Sarah were so kind and helpful. They provided wonderful experience and should get a raise for the level of professionalism we experienced. I will be coming back and this is great mid day activity for family and friends visiting chicago
The ambience and staff were lovely. We had high tea for my niece’s birthday and the chef contacted me to work out what she could have due to her dietary restrictions. Sarah was accommodating and informative. She and Judie went the extra mile to ensure our needs were met and our experience was exemplary. Many thanks to them both.
Celebrating our 5th anniversary at Upstairs at The Gwen in Chicago was absolutely wonderful! ❤️ We traveled from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and couldn’t have picked a better place. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the entire experience was so special.
A huge thank you to our hostess, Judie, and our waitress, Mayra, who both went above and beyond to make our anniversary dinner unforgettable. Their warmth and exceptional service truly made the evening!

What a great hotel! Really top notch and the customer service sets apart this establishment from others. Luigi is an absolute rockstar and went out of his way throughout our trip to check in and go the extra mile to ensure we were having a good time. Also Russell the concierge was outstanding and texted to make sure we made it to our destination and were enjoying. The hotel itself was clean, spacious rooms and had a beautiful bathroom. Bed super comfy and ample lighting all within walking distance to all the famous Chicago sites. Only small gripes were elevators were painfully slow and the AC shuts off when you leave your room so when you return it can be quite hot.

Very nice hotel with the one exception which is the shower is far too small. Whoever designed the bathroom does not understand the use of space because it is a large room with a large tub and a large sink area (all good things) but then a tiny narrow shower. Why would you have all this space and use it for a tub instead of the shower. Clearly management made the mistake of not actually living in the space because they would have instantly recognized the error. So note to management, tear out the tubs and make the showers 2X the size. Sorry to harp on this but it is silly to have such nice rooms and large bathrooms to then squeeze patrons into a tiny shower space.
Luigi checked us in for our stay during our anniversary weekend. He was inviting, professional, and gave us an upgrade for our anniversary, which was very kind. The room was a full suite, and it was nicely appointed. We have stayed at The Gwen several times before, and it is always a consistently lovely experience. We would highly recommend The Gwen to anyone who is looking to stay in a chic hotel with great service and a solid location.
Checked in this afternoon for our stay at The Gwen in downtown Chicago. The hotel is in a great part of town and within walking distance to many attractions. Upon check in, Luigi gave us some advice on getting around the city. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It was the perfect start for our trip. Thanks, Luigi! You are awesome!!!

Went to Tipsy Tea at the Gwen. Gloria and Judie were both so nice and provided amazing service during our whole tea. The chia and peach teas were amazing and tasted great mixed together as well. The savory treats on the tower were all great. Wish there were less desserts and more savory food on the tower. Overall great price for a tea in the city.
Me and my girls came out for Tipsy Tea and we loved it. Judie and Gloria were very attentive and answered all of our questions. Judie checked on us multiple times to be sure we had everything we needed. We do wish there was more savory on the tower but all the food was good. They both made the experience great. We will definitely come back!

We were in the city to celebrate my 40th birthday and The Gwen made it so special, thank you for it. This cupcake was in the room and even receptionists and Front Office Manager wished me happy birthday. The personal approach, friendliness and “everything for the guests” make this hotel so special.
I came with my God brother and our host Holly seated us immediately and gave us nice seats with a view of the city and our serverJudie got our orders and brought the food out within 20 minutes and was extremely helpful with the menu.
Lovely hotel and Sany at reception was very professional and charming.
