Spacious, 'Grand' hotel, full of interesting antiques and art.
Rather dated room and bathroom on 2nd floor.
Great location. Great ambiance. Friendly staff. Very nice bar, dinner and breakfast
Parking a little tight but workable
Hotel has plenty of history and is situated in a stunning location , right next to castle and nearby shops and restaurants . Car parking at hotel right next to entrance . Good breakfast with a vegetarian option . Evening meal was good too .
Helpful staff willing to accommodate additional nights stay even though the hotel was full.
Parts of the building are rather dated and require some TLC. Windows were dirty which detracted from the superb views .
Lovely friendly staff who were really accommodating.
Being woken up by seagulls at 4.45 fighting outside my bedroom window. I had a room that looked out over the back of the hotel where seagulls were nesting. I think a cat was threatening a nest, so tens of seagulls were flying over dive bombing the predator absolutely screaming. The room was hot, so I had to have the window open. There were no fans in the room, so the noise was horrendous.
Spacious bedrooms and public rooms, great location, super, friendly staff; excellent breakfast.
Single beds need new mattresses, sink down to bed bottom. Rooms would benefit from upgrading.
Lovely location, friendly staff. Comfortable room and bed. Food was delicious too.
Nothing
Lovely hotel but needs a bit of an update. But new owners have arrived!
Breakfast tasted delicious. Full Welsh breakfast was v tasty. Staff despite being very busy were always smiling.
Tea and coffee served from flasks at 1st breakfast was awful but they changed it to coffee pots and teapots for the next 2 days which was so much better.
Restaurant rather crowded for breakfast altho they tried to mitigate it by booking a breakfast slot on arrival. Used other areas for breakfast when very busy.
It will be interesting to go back in a few months time to see how the new owners have changed things.
Good breakfast.
Great historical hotel ,staff friendly & very friendly 👌
Not a thing
Location excellent.
Food delicious and good value.
Restaurant staff were polite, friendly, efficient helpful. Great service.
Rooms and communal areas very dated.
Reception staff were not as professional or polite as restaurant staff. Rooms were not ready at check in time. We waited 30 minutes others had to wait even longer and corridor areas had not been cleaned at all. Stayed 2 nights but between days clean was only towel change. Not even bed made.
The breakfast was excellent . The room was really nice and the staff were all really nice. Would highly recomend.
The location was good, Breakfast was also good.
Parking was an issues, as there was an event during the day, resulting in a £9 charge for the local car park.
The extremely expensive room which faced the Straits was small and had a very small double bed, and no air-condition. Definitely not work the money!
One very slow bar staff, who clearly could not handle multiple orders.
Breakfast was good but a little rushed.
Room didn't quite match the photos and off street parking was limited
Location, room, staff and food was really great. Special thanks to Josh, Holly (and those who were helping) and Linda for making our meal times even better. Everyone was so helpful and pleasant. Food was excellent. Also thanks for the complementary bottle of wine on our last evening for our anniversary.
Hotel has just been taken over by new owners so trust that it will be upgraded as it needs some tlc and that they treat the current staff well.
Cleanliness of the room in general. Could do with a good dusting.
Hotel architecture was lovely. Hotel was clean, well presented and very central within the area. Staff were courteous and happy to help. Rooms appeared to have been recently refurbished and were warm!
We travelled with a dog. The breakfast area, set aside for dog owners was nice, but a little remote from the main breakfast area.
