The mattress wasn’t comfortable but new ones were being delivered the next day !

I liked the whole experience, nothing I did not like

Staff not always attending - i.e. reception/restaurant

It is dated, room was not clean, the sheet did not fit the bed properly which meant the mattress was exposed.

In places showing its age, didn’t say on the website but all fitness and swimming is closed until next February. Being transferred to new owners so issues with supply of breakfast etc.

We stayed at the Marwell Hotel last night and can honestly say we were massively disappointed. For what we paid, it was simply not worth the money.

It was immediately apparent that the hotel is very dated and in need of refurbishment. We only discovered at check-in that refurbishment works were taking place. While we appreciate that maintenance and improvements are necessary, this should have been made much clearer before booking, particularly as key facilities such as the swimming pool and gym were unavailable. These facilities were one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. We had also emailed the hotel a few days before they messaged us on Booking.com about the pool and gym not being available, and we highlighted our concerns at that point, but received no reply. It was only after checking in that we found a small notice buried within the legal information on Booking.com stating that the pool and gym were closed due to refurbishment.

Our room was equally disappointing. There was no air conditioning, making it extremely hot and stuffy. We were provided with an old, noisy fan, which did little to improve the situation. The beds and pillows were both very soft and uncomfortable. The drawers would not stay closed, meaning they protruded into the walkway around the bed and created a hazard, as we repeatedly caught our feet and legs on them.

The television was not connected and therefore did not work. It was only after we reported this to reception that we were informed the issue affected the entire Block 2, yet we were never told this on arrival.

The corridors were also tired and in poor condition. The hallway leading to our room contained construction signage stating that hard hats must be worn, with chairs blocking access downstairs. There was dust throughout the area, and the boiler room doors on our landing were left open despite signs stating they must remain closed.

It was very dated and it was so overpriced for what you got. The towels were dirty in the room. The security bracket on the door was broken.

The bathrooms in particular really need updating!

Air con would have been nice as it was very warm when we stayed but there was a large fan which made it comfortable.
