The cleanliness of the rooms, mainly the bathroom, the rubber on the bottom of the shower screen were mouldy. The bathrooms were very dated and didn’t feel luxury, like the rest of the hotel / hall did. This was very disappointing. There were also marks on the ceiling, scraps on the walls, and the vents were full of cobwebs. There were very poor quality pillows, in fact flat !
Wedding we attended was smoothly run. Attentive staff. Room very spacious and clean. Lovely location
Walk from car park to function was lengthy. Small details such as teaspoons with hot drinks and a complimentary drink that never arrived. These did not impact our stay in a massive way though. We still had a good time.

DO NOT PAY FOR A FULL BREAKFAST, it’s all in together so save yourself some money. Check I’m was terrible and you seem to be an inconvenience to the staff.

Left with a refund. Room was small, outdated and scruffy and overlooked another hotel corridor with guests walking past. Unknown marks on the walls out side the room and shoddy decoration. Unfriendly greeting by receptionist who gave us no information about anything and was quite rude. There was also a wedding which was incredibly loud and overstimulating when you walked in with people and bags everywhere. We were advised by a message the day before that spa access should be no issue, to get there and be made to walk outside in the freezing cold to around to the spa to find out ourselves that the hours were different than advertised on the weekend and that it was unlikely there would be any room so we couldn’t use it. We knew it was subject to availability but had checked the day before to manage our expectations. Asked to speak to the duty manager who didn’t seem surprised about our unhappiness about the room and offered a full refund, he advised that half the hotel had been renovated a couple of years ago but half hadn’t, the half we were placed in. He also said reception could let us know about spa availability and we didn’t need to walk round to find this out ourselves, a massive lack of training of the reception staff. We left and stayed in a pub down the road which was cheaper, much nicer rooms and a much better welcome. Not the luxury experience you would expect, avoid!!!
The setting, character and design.
Our en suite , cracked tiles in bathroom, duck tape over tiles in the shower area. Duck tape on the light in the bathroom.

The room was okay but there was something leaking from the ceiling and had a towel tucked into it with black stuff all over it
And the bed was rock hard so didn’t sleep very well

Fire alarm went off at 3am woke us up 3 times then a chain saw at 730 outside my window cutting hedges .
This ruined the amazing experience but we got am appolode letter to our door the next monring and re assured they would make it up to us on our next visit .

Unfortunately, our stay did not live up to expectations. While the hotel appears beautiful and well-maintained in photos, the reality was quite different.
The rooms are outdated and extremely dirty, specifically, the bathroom and walls showed a clear lack of basic housekeeping. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning in the room. When we opened the windows to cool down, we were bothered by loud noise from the staff area at the back of the building, making it very unpleasant to relax. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I hope management addresses these cleanliness and noise issues.
