Categories

Cleanliness
8.8
Rooms repeatedly described as clean; multiple guests explicitly noted 'Zimmer sauber' and overall satisfactory housekeeping.
Service
8.4
Generally friendly and helpful staff (helpful at reception, accommodated breakfast charge issue); isolated negative notes about booking/customer-service handling and one report of a porter smelling unpleasant.
Location
9.4
Consistently praised as 'top location' and central, within walking distance to main sights; convenient for attractions and even EV charging/parking at the front of the hotel.
Room Quality
6.2
Mixed reports: some rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, but many guests report very warm rooms (no AC), outdated furniture, worn mattresses/pillows, carpeted/old-fashioned rooms and occasionally noisy rooms facing the street.
Amenities
5.5
Notable lack of air conditioning in most rooms; limited in-room amenities for some (no fridge in some rooms), a tiny elevator and minimal parking. A few positives (fridge in some rooms, EV charge spot) but overall amenities are limited for summer comfort.
Value for Money
7.8
Several guests found price-quality reasonable and appreciated gestures (e.g., breakfast charge waived for children), though others felt the dated rooms reduce perceived value.
Food and Beverage
8.2
Breakfast is repeatedly described positively (good/very good breakfast); limited bar amenities in some places but breakfast quality stands out as a strength.
Overall Experience
8.1
Good choice for short stays or overnight stops due to location and helpful staff; heat/no AC, dated rooms and occasional noise reduce comfort but do not outweigh the positives for many guests.

Overall, my stay at Hotel Amberg was very pleasant and comfortable.
Pros:

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The location was very convenient. Parking my motorcycle was a challenge. I was directed by the hotel staff to the garage just down the street. I parked my motorcycle overnight and discovered the next morning as I tried to exit, that motorcycles are not allowed to be parked in the garage. Having a specific and correct plan for motorcycle parking would have been very helpful.

My room appeared to be very clean. However, when I stepped into the room I noticed a foul smell at the entry way.

Cons:

I found that there were no electrical plugs close to the bed. My USA charging adapter failed during my stay. Unfortunately, the hotel did not have any spare usb chargers. The front desk staff was not able to direct me to a store to buy a new one. I spent about 1 hours searching the market area for an adapter. Luckily, I was able to find multiple cellular stores nearby that sold chargers. It would have been a major plus if the hotel had a spare charger that I could use.
