Hotel Caravel

We arrived on 15th June 2026.
First impressions were the staff more than helpful . We have stayed for 2 weeks half board and can say the dinners are similar as you would get in any top flight restaurant. Breakfast semi self service if you need freshly made omelette or fried eggs they will be served to your table.. Every taste catered for.
A very nice swimming pool with ample sun loungers and shady seating.
If you want a corporate run establishment this is not for you. Privately owned that look after their employees as we found out with such happy and efficient service.
The hotel is in a quiet road 5 minuets walk from busy Sant Agnielo and about 10 minuets from Sorrento center.
This is reached by the hotels free curtesy minibus that runs every half hour until 11.30pm
Everywhere was clean and yes the bedrooms may not be as large as some but in tempretures of 38c the air conditioning was soo good and the room maids so very nice.
The evenings had light music from entertainers . Not over the top but just nice background .excellent bar service . With all you can see and do in this area my wife and myself were pleased we did the research and found this perfect place to stay.

Our first trip to the Sorrento area and the main purpose was for our Niece's wedding on the 18th June. We decided to travel out on the 10th and have a weeks break before the wedding and boy we are so glad we did. We chose the Hotel caravel based on location, size and reviews and in all three it was brilliant.

From the emails we sent before we travelled to the welcome upon arrival, the room, the food, the facilities BUT most of all the Staff. Every single one from the reception staff, to our daily cleaning lady to Angelo and his team in the restaurant, and the wonderful mini bus driver who took us in to, and back from Sorrento a number of time.

They are all world class in terms of friendliness, excellence and support. We have been lucky enough to have travelled to a number of different cities in Europe and beyond and the Hotel Caravel is up in the top 5% of those we have stayed in.

Every review is a personal one, and what worked for my wife and I might be viewed differently by others. But for us we cannot praise the hotel and the staff enough.

Thank you to all of you at the hotel for making our 10 day stay so lovely.

This is a fabulous hotel we went there for my sisters wedding anniversary. The staff could not do enough for us and made the celebration perfect, table was decorated beautifully and they even made us a special cake, a very special thank you to Angelo who was amazing and the Food was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.😘

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Hotel Caravel and already can’t wait to come back.

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean and impeccably maintained. Our room was immaculate every single day thanks to the wonderful housekeeping team, who did an amazing job throughout our stay.

The restaurant staff truly made our holiday extra special. My sister is both gluten and dairy free, and the team could not have been more accommodating. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they went above and beyond to ensure she always had delicious options to enjoy.

A special thank you must go to Angelo, who is simply incredible. He keeps the whole restaurant running so smoothly and is always so helpful, welcoming and professional. He made every meal a pleasure. We would also like to thank Anura and Daniele, who were both so kind, attentive and friendly throughout our stay.

The service from everyone at Hotel Caravel was exceptional and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived until the day we left.

Thank you all for such a wonderful holiday – we made some lovely memories and cannot wait to return!

Cannot fault this hotel. Spent 11 nights here and loved every minute. Staff are polite and attentive, rooms are spotlessly cleaned daily. Stayed as half board and there is absolutely nothing wrong with breakfast or dinner options. Restaurant staff are amazing. Huge praise to Angelo, Ninu, and Antonio, plus all the team.
Great location, 15-20 minute walk from Sorrento centre, a nice distance to walk your meal off ot their is a hotel shuttle bus available. Have laid a lot more for hotels nearby and received a lot less. Highly recommended and will return again to this hotel

JUst spent a wonderful week at Hotel Caravel. The highlight has to be the restaurant which Angelo oversees with style and panache whilst Maria looks after guests' tables. The hotel is ina quiet area about 20 minutes walk to Sorrento main square or just 5 and 10 minutes walk to local bus stop or St Agnello railway station respectively.

Lovely quiet Hotel with amazingly friendly staff, just nicely tucked out of the way on the outskirts of Sorrento.
Our room had great views of the mountains and the sea and from the hotel upstairs terrace you can get a superb view of Vesuvius.
We were half board and had a wide variety of lovely food all served by a dedicated team of Mariu, Viktoria, Natalia and all conducted by the Maestro headwaiter Angelo. Mariu even helped my wife to practice and learn a few essential Italian words and phrases.
On an evening there was live music every day except Saturdays so it was nice to sit and relax after dinner in the garden area with a drink or two.
The Hotel provides a free minibus transfers to and from Sorrento throughout the day and evening.
Lovely pool area with plenty of loungers.
Easy access to nice eateries within an easy walk for lunches if required.
Our room was cleaned to a high standard and was quite modern compared to most Italian Hotels, although a bit more storage space would have been nice.
We will definitely return to this little gem.

Spent a week at this hotel for our Honeymoon and had the best time.
The room was spacious, with excellent AC. The rooms were cleaned every day and done very well. There was no loud noises. The front desk staff were very kind and efficient. There is a pool, which we didn't take advantage of but looked very nice, and sun loungers as well. There is also a bar downstairs and you can have your drinks inside or outside. If you wish to pay card, you must pay at the front desk as the bar is cash only but that's fine. The restaurant staff were also so friendly and professional. The shuttle is free but you do have to secure your place so make sure to do that. You just pick a time to go in to Sorrento - and a time to leave Sorrento. It's every half hour I believe but there is no bus from 3-5 I believe? I could be wrong about the time. The driver is so nice as well, a real gentleman. Otherwise, it's about a 20 minute walk into Sorrento and honestly, it's a nice walk. I do recommend this hotel highly.

Wonderful holiday. We just spent a week at the hotel Caravel .we were half board. Location is perfect. Few minutes outside Sorrento but the hotel has a free shuttle that brings you in and out of Sorrento. The room with a small balcony was lovely. The meals were diversified and beautifully presented every night but what really makes your stay is the staff. The reception staff are always very pleasant and helpful. The cleaning staff do a great job.The bar staff are lovely.Angelo and his team in the dining room (Mariu,Victoria and Natalia to name a few) are just amazing. They make each guest feel special and always have a smile. Wonderful memories of this very special hotel.

Had a wonderful break here. All the staff from reception, restaurant, bar and housekeeping were wonderful. All very helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you for a comfortable and relaxing break. Would recommend. Good access with the bus shuttle provided for free to/from Sorrento but also a short walk into the town of Sant'Agnello. Also, homemade breads made daily.

Best part of this hotel is Angelo the head waiter. He was so attentive and always greeted us with a smile and warm welcome. Angelo always made sure we had something we liked for dinner. He is the biggest asset to this hotel. Also big shout out to Maria who was also friendly and welcoming.

Hotel room fairly basic and not enough storage shelves/drawers.

The females in reception were not particularly welcoming or friendly and don't give a good first impression of the hotel.

We had such an incredible trip. The hotel is well kept and the food was delicious, but the service is what really sets it apart. Everyone was so welcoming. Antonio was an amazing driver and gave us the best tips for local spots we wouldn’t have found on our own. Mikayla and Kuba were also so thoughtful in how they personalized our experience! It made the trip feel extra special. Such a smooth, memorable stay!

Booked this Hotel based on the reviews, and I think really they are based on some on the staff who are incredibly nice.

The hotel is a very nice looking building based around 25 minutes walk from Sorrento , it is a long and quite dangerous walk on very busy roads , there is a shuttle bus which takes you to and from but is only bookable in advance and does not run in the afternoons or after 22.30, so we did end doing the walk quite a bit,

Internally the Hotel needs a lot of updating, the rooms are very old , decor is early 1980s and we paid extra for a balcony which overlooked the Kitchen roof and in 40s years of travel it’s first time I’ve never sat on the balcony, it was so unappealing, others we spoke to seemed to have different problems, as all rooms seem to be different, noise , lack of storage etc .

The room was cleaned each day, but the balcony wasn’t the whole stay and common areas , like stairs were dirty with dead fly’s ,,
Which were there the whole time we were there.

We were half board and are Vegan, I emailed the hotel two months before to ask if they could accommodate this and they said yes no problem and tbf they did, but we were made to feel very odd, a big fuss was made over us eating every night and the four course menu for the other guests changed every night , ours didn’t , we were expected to eat the same food for 7 straight nights and be greatful, only two of the nights were we given a desert and it was as if we had been given as massive gift , eveyone else had four or five choices a night .We went into Sorrento for two nights as we could stand anymore

The food on the whole seemed quite low quality and cheap , the restaurant staff manager is very pleasant and makes you feel very welcome but the staff seem to be arguing amongst them selves a lot and they were heated moments in front of us quite often

We paid a lot of money to stay in a 4 star hotel and this is a 2 and half star at best , we also spent a lot of money on the incidentals ,like drinks with meals at the bar , which is where you have to go at night as there is really not much choice in the area, it’s basically a lounge with three entertainers rotating the nights, singing the same 6 songs to a very elderly crowd, it’s very boring and has no atmosphere , felt like a care home at night.

When we left we were given a bill for our stay which we felt was overcharged and wrong but there is no breakdown on expenses just, 30 euros and a date so you cannot argue it, there is no system in place and the staff just uses scraps of paper with room numbers written on , so it’s all a mess and I’m sure we paid other peoples bills and vice versa.

When we checked out the miserable blonde woman on reception didn’t ask if we had a nice stay or anything… and the restaurant manger just said please write a good review.. which I think says a lot…..

Staff was great!

2nd time staying here as it’s just so lovely. Stayed with teen daughter who loves it. Hotel and rooms are spotless. The grounds are maintained lovely too. Small pool but does the job and offers a lovely relaxing space. The staff are fabulous. Special mention to Angelo. Mariu. Nino and the bar guys, all fab and make everyone feel special. Food was great. Always a good variety to choose from. It’s a small hotel with a big heart so not for guests who want non stop entertainment but the locale is spot on with town an easy walk or the free bus every half an hour into Sorrento which is great for restaurants and bars and sightseeing if you so wish
Only downside was we had a standard room with no balcony which I missed from our visit last year. So get a balcony. It makes the difference. Thanks guys we will be back again

Lovely hotel. Room was comfortable. Cleaners in every day. Food was very good with great service from resteraunt manager Angelo and his staff. Nice pool area very well maintained. Free courtesy bus to Sorrento was a real bonus. Staff in general were very helpful.

Lovely traditional hotel. Great atmosphere. Excellent service all round. Cleaners always smile. Reception always friendly and polite and helpful. Restaurant staff work as an amazing team always make you welcome. Food good. The manager Angelo was very nice and a pleasure to meet. Shuttle bus excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Sorrento . Pat Mee and Wendy Lawson.
