Christmas cheer that stays all year
Pros:

Needing a family Christmas to remember long after loved ones have gone we chose Malmaison Piccadilly Private Dining space and some rooms for a sleepover.
The team were efficient and helpful in ensuring everything was complete by the end of November so on the day we arrived, checked in and had time to have a few drinks in the bar before dressing for dinner and going to the Ember Lounge.
It was uplifting to enter the magical space created with soft lighting, festive furnishings including a Christmas tree, background music and welcome drinks at just the right temperature.
Our food had been pre ordered and our place settings reflected our choices so conversations were not interrupted we had a choice of drinks packages which meant the whole evening was relaxed and flowed flawlessly. The staff were present but never intrusive and we all still talk about what a fantastic evening it was and how it was the best way to kick start our memorable Christmas time.
The beds were a perfect way to end the evening and breakfast was a hearty start to the Sunday.

Very Central, clean and pleasant
Pros:

The hotel was easy to spot from the train station. Very central and easy to navigate to and from. Check in was smooth. The room was immaculate. The one thing I didn't like was that throughout the hotel, the lighting was very low, in the lifts, corridors and rooms. It was not great if your eyesight is a bit impaired. The room was comfortable and pleasant to stay in. You had a little fridge with a complimentary bottle of still water, which was a nice touch. A free safe in the wardrobe too. Breakfast was decent, although I had to pay extra if I wanted a cooked breakfast. I don't remember the booking saying that it was only continental included in the price. Other than that it was all good. I would consider coming here again.

Meeting Room Booking in April 2026
Pros:

This hotel is in an enviable situation in Manchester, right opposite Manchester Piccadilly station. It doesn't have its own car park, but there are car parks nearby. The interior of the hotel is bright and modern and the rooms very comfortable. Food is good, although personally I would have preferred a more French-inspired menu. Breakfast is copious with very good quality products, with the selection including some French influences, such as French yoghurts, which is a lovely touch.

The meeting room we used was airy and just the right size with an option to extend into the next room for a larger gathering. It was unfortunate that the coffee machines in the area for use by those in meeting rooms were broken, but the hotel sorted this out for us very promptly and efficiently.

Having discussed the event with my boss, we both feel that we would be very happy to use the Malmaison again. Being centrally located in Manchester is a great advantage as there are many bars and restaurants to choose from.

Would gladly recommend this hotel for a business or leisure stay when visiting Manchester.

Great hotel brilliant staff
Pros:

Was only there one night so didn't really make full use of the facilities, but what I did use, I loved. The room was really spacious, decorated in a modern and inviting way and spotlessly clean. Everything worked well, exactly as it should. We had twin beds and they were really comfy with lovely fluffy pillows. We were on the 3rd floor and there was no issue with noise from the street (which is great considering it's location). There's a railway station right opposite, local shops for any last minute essentials and a taxi rank just outside. The staff on reception deserve a special mention. I had booked a show and the tickets were emailed to me with the instructions to print them out. I sent them to the reception and they printed them off no bother. Long story short, the ticket company had messed up and it ended up with me (or the receptionists, rather) printing them off 3 times. At no point were they huffy or eye-rolling, they were super helpful and very personable. Definitely going to stay here next time I'm in Manchester.

My go to hotel when staying in Mcr
Pros:

Stylish and clean hotel, with pleasant and attentive staff. I love the quality Arran products which I dicovered here, that I now order them to my home.
The food is always delicious, with the afternoon tea exceeding expectations.
Fabulous price for a last minute stay after celebrating the start of the bank holiday weekend. The membership discount is an added bonus.

Private dining Spring Lunch
Pros:

We held our retirees Spring Lunch in Malmaison Restaurant yesterday.
It was short notice due to our original venue not being able to accommodate our numbers (65 adults).

From the moment we approached Julie & her Team, we were met with a can do attitude, a great choice of menu & the Restaurant space tailored to our needs.

On the day the Front of house guys looked after us brilliantly, even made a couple of tweaks to our seating at our request.

The food, 3courses, was served swiftly, it was hot & most of all, absolutely top notch. We had nothing but great feedback from everyone who attended, a big thumbs up from us all…… hosting such an event is hard-work so to get service with a smile, thank you guys, really well done 👏 👍😊

Poor quality hotel. Dirty, broken and insufficient facilities. Unhelpful front desk,
Pros:

Having stayed at Malmaison a few years ago we thought standards would be the same, they aren’t. The front desk staff failed to convey simple information around lift operations at the outset. The room was a standard double. Very small bed and room, ill fitting carpet and water/heat damaged furniture. Only one bath towel was provided for 2 guests, the bathroom was dirty with cracked sink, running toilet and mould. Wouldn’t recommend or return.

Quirky Brand
Pros:

Quirky Malmaison did not let us down with an early check-in, interesting rooms and a decent breakfast next morning.

Would have preferred a rain-shower in such a hotel rather than bath over shower but that is just personal preference.

Was on top floor at side of hotel and not a bit of sound from inside or outside throughout the night.

A minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly and about 20 minutes from Victoria.

Suite 507 - needs improvement
Pros:

We recently stayed at Malmaison Manchester and overall had a mixed experience.

The location is excellent – really central and ideal for getting around Manchester. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, which definitely made a positive first impression.

We booked a suite which was luckily on offer through Hotels.com for £87. Had we booked directly with the hotel it would have been around £170, and in all honesty that would have been far too much for the quality of the room.

The suite itself was very spacious, with a separate lounge area and bedroom. It had a bath with a separate shower, a TV in both the lounge and bedroom (with the option to connect your phone for Netflix, YouTube etc.), bathrobes, kettle, ironing facilities, tea and coffee, and a chargeable minibar. All of these extras do make the room feel that little bit more special.

However, the stay was hugely let down by cleanliness and the overall condition of the décor, which felt quite worn in places. There were marks and stains in multiple areas of the suite. The bathroom in particular felt grubby around the floor area, with visible staining and signs of water damage. I wasn’t actively looking for faults, but unfortunately they were noticeable.

I’ve attached photos showing two blood stains, a questionable stain on the bedroom chair, and glassware left in the room that was clearly not clean enough to use. That level of hygiene simply isn’t acceptable.

We’re grateful for the room at the price we paid, but had we paid full price, I would have made a formal complaint rather than simply leaving this as a heads-up for future guests.

Great Experience and superb treatments and lunch
Pros:

Relaxing atmosphere, I went with my sister and we had the All About Me spa package, it included use of the spa, 2.5 hrs of treatments and lunch. Georgia did my treatments she was amazing I can honestly say it’s probably one of the best massages and facials I have ever had. My skin feels great and I feel so relaxed. Thank you Georgia x

Quirky with a wonderful welcome.
Pros:

The best welcome I've had in a hotel. The lady on reception was warm, genuine and friendly. She explained everything really well. We had booked an upgrade so she sorted that for us.
The room was quiet but we didn't like that it had an adjoining door. There was loads of room and its was well laid out. Very modern and smart but very dark room. I did end up doing my make up in the bathroom which was very well lit.
Bathrobes and slippers were available but we didn't use them.
Not much of a view over the bins downstairs but we did nt spent time looking out of the window!!
The corridors looked liked being at the cinema but I did like the quirky Manchester related artwork.
Breakfast was brilliant, food was slow but delicious. So much choice of breakfast items. Beautifully cooked and quality produce.

Never purchase or use a gift voucher here!
Pros:

First off nothing to do with the hotel itself but it was a genuine pain trying to make a booking using a gift voucher some friends bought me.

The voucher was for a Sunday night stay but wanted to book and pay for an additional night ourselves which seemed to cause a lot of confusion in the hotel.

Upon arrival it took a few mins before they could confirm that we could stay in the same room for two nights as one room was booked with a voucher and the other paid in full.

A £50 payment was then taken from my card and I was told I could bill all food or drink to the room and settle the bill on checkout.

On the Sunday night had a lovely meal and wait staff were friendly but bar service was very slow which was a running theme throughout our stay. When we said to put the meal and drinks on the room though there was a slightly awkward exchange as the wait staff informed us that we had "no credit" on our room so wel all had to make a trip to reception to get it cleared up.

On the second day we headed out for a bit and upon our return our keycard didn't work to get to the room and once that was sorted it turned out our room hadn't been cleaned, both issues were claimed to be due to the confusion caused by using a voucher to book for one of the nights. We were however granted some bar vouchers as way of apology.

Again meal in the restaurant on second night was fantastic and wait staff were great but bar staff were very slow and borderline neglectful to customers waiting at the bar.

The last issue with the voucher happened upon checkout as part of the voucher was £50 off the food bill and that hasn't been applied and I had already been charged the full amount on my card seemingly before I checked out. The reception staff didn't seem to know what to do with this issue (not their fault) and have forwarded my details to the manager for investigation.

Also fair warning a £21.50 service charge was added to my bill with no warning and while the wait staff were nice we were often left waiting a long time for our drinks e.g. on the first night we ordered food and drinks together and drinks still hadn't arrived until after we had finished our starters and only after we reminded a member of the wait staff that we hadn't received them.

While the hotel itself is nice and some of the staff were friendly and helpful I don't feel this hotel warrants it's 4 star rating based on its overall service.

Staff were friendly and quick to solve problems but ultimately those problems shouldn't be happening to begin with.
