Nice and clean
Area was good
Booked a suite and no sofa so we had lovely sitting room area with nowhere to sit, asked twice for a seating area, came up too late and we had already headed out for the evening
Great location and parking
The room was roasting to hot.
Great would come again
Location is good, central to everything.
Hotel is tired and overpriced
Location was great
poor experience unfortunately when we arrived we was told we couldn't check in till 5 as they was busy which was frustrating as you have to hang around eventually we got bored and went further into town but when we came back at 11 there was no receptionist as he had gone over to a different hotel so waited 45 minutes till he come back then a further 20 minutes trying to do our room he didn't have a clue do in total spent 2 hours waiting to go in my room by uneducated staff
Lovely maintained building
Once checked in we went to our room to discover it hadn’t been cleaned since the last guest. So we were moved to another room. This room stank of dirty nappies and the extraction fan in the bathroom made a huge noise. We returned again to reception and was given a 3rd room. Thankfully this was great.
Good location and nice and hospitality staff
Old building and no air conditioner and no fridge and phone case for contact to reception in the room. The windows are locked and cannot be opened.
Lovely Victorian hotel with features,
downside is room was way too hot, so could not sleep, radiators would not turn off and windows would not open.
Arrived at the hotel to what can only be describes as utter chaos, there was no space on the car park and there was vehicles dumped everywhere so we had to pay for parking on the street next to the hotel. Arrived in reception to check in where we found a huge queue of people and only one young lady checking people in. Everyone was being advised that their rooms were not ready when we were advised when booking that check in was from 3PM. Another lady came to the reception desk(She looked like a manager) but im not sure what she was doing apart from being rude to people who where asking if their rooms were ready. I think more staff are needed in reception to deal with checking in. Room was clean but quite dated and the beds are very small
Location and cleanliness
The room has plaster in the bathroom, holes in the bath and a cracked sink. A heated towel rail that is on 24/7 but no openable bathroom window. The food was awful, been under a heat lamp far too long so was totally dry, tinned veg.
Area
The room was super hot the weather was to ring window
It was hard to breath
The lift is old and took ages to come up it was that bad we checked out on the Saturday despite booking till the Sunday
Horrible place ruined my birthday if I'm honest
Staff was not helpful
And the food was not the best disappointing to be honest
Great location
Hot pipes running along hallway made it very hot we where on floor 3,

Location. Large room and staff. Reception were very kind and let us have an early check in.
The view from our window. It would have been lovely to have a room overlooking Lord Street if one had been available.
Loved it. The staff were friendly, the room was warm, and everywhere is very, very clean — exceptionally so. Even the taps were properly descaled, the shower glass was streak-free, and there was plenty of hot water, which is not always the case in older hotels. I stayed for a couple of nights and then went back a fortnight later and stayed again — I even asked for the same room and got it :-)
Yes, it is an old hotel, and yes, some of the windows don’t close perfectly — but if you want that sort of thing, go and stay in a purpose-built, soulless block with double glazing.
I did half board the first time, and the food is plentiful and, despite some reviews I had read beforehand, was always hot and well stocked.
Dinner was generous and consistently served hot, with plenty of choice within a traditional, home-cooked style menu. The evening meals mainly consisted of classic British dishes such as pies, roast meats, chicken, vegetables, soups and simple desserts like sponge puddings and custards. While the food was plain in style rather than modern or international, it was well cooked, plentiful and very satisfying, with the option to go back for additional helpings.
Breakfast was excellent during my stay and was very different from some of the reviews I had read beforehand. Despite the hotel being extremely busy, the food was consistently hot, fresh and well replenished. There was a wide selection of typical breakfast items available, all regularly topped up even at peak times. The staff worked very hard to keep everything running smoothly and ensure there was always plenty available, which made for a very good experience overall.
Nothing, it was all good and I will definitely go back.
we always stay here great location and accessible for my husband
we liked everything
Lovely historic building with all mod cons. Friendly helpful staff. Great value.
