The hotel is in a great location for boarding the ferry to Mackinac Island- you can walk to the ferry. It’s also very close to all the shops and restaurants in Macinaw City, again, you can walk there. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was not very good. The pancakes were good, but the eggs were awful. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the same food each day.
Swimming pool, location
Nothing
Horrible management...don't waste money...many nicer hotels in same area.
NOTHING. For the PRICE I paid (which I believe was WAY OVER PRICED for the room I was in. For the Price I paid, I was expecting luxury accommodations. The room I had was a $150.00 OR Less NOT OVER $300.00
I stayed at a Choice motel with Awards FOUR YEARS in a row,, Including this year. And I paid UNDER $ 120.00 a night. Choice room was EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN, BW WAS NOT had Dust on lamp shades, cob webs under lampshade, the Smell in the room was terrible, Choice was a nice scent.
BW had breakfast from 7 to 9, Choice had it from 6 to 9:30.
I wanted this trip to be memorable because I had my Niece with me and because of my age and health issues, my LAST trip to Mackinaw.
I just wrote what I DIDN'T LIKE, but to add to that, the Man at front desk was not nice, Smoked way to close to entrance.
Exceptionally great stay here. Very clean rooms, clean and well maintained grounds, hallways, buildings. Professional, friendly and caring staff from front desk to the attendant in the breakfast room. They offer a wide range of breakfast options in the morning in a bright, cheery and large room on top floor. Best motel we've stayed at in this area. It will be our first choice next time we travel here.
Location,
.
Room had plenty of space. That was the best part. Got to snuggle the bride while our many belligerent progeny quarreled on the other queen beds.
It is really hard to find a place that will take 4 unruly children.
10 at night, my oldest says, "Dad, there is a mouse next to my bed." I am like, "no way," but then it runs across the room and back. Wife was already at front desk getting something else. Told her to ask the desk for a glue trap. They were incredulous. "You must have let it in." I reply, "Nope, there is a straight up Tom and Jerry Mouse hole in the base board (which was absolutely true)." Wife suggested a fine Acme product, but none were available. We stuffed the hole with Walmart bags and went to bed. They can't hold your spaghetti sauce without ripping out, but they will stuff up a mouse hole. Went to bed without further incident.
Breakfast was OK. Pancakes were pretty good. Coffee was mediocre.
Parking was pretty tight. I got a mini van and it was tight. If you have an Electra 225 you had best abadon hope. It was full too.
Didn't eat breakfast, bed very comfortable and shower was nice.
Air conditioner had a musty odor.
Excellent location
The building is outdated and the bathroom was very small
Location, next to beach, rooms are spacious
Expensive, breakfast can be improved, parking
We booked this property for 2 nights for our visit to Macinaw. The staff was nice, acknowledged our platinum status and gave us our room, 4 floor, waterside. We took the elevator up, it made some strange noises so we never used it again for fear of getting stuck in it. Couldn’t help notice right away how dirty the carpet in hallways were, really needs to be deeply cleaned and vacuumed or better, replaced. Our room was ok, nice view of lake, furniture is very dated, old fashioned, wallpaper is peeling off walls, carpet needs to be replaced and bedding had a mildew smell to it. Breakfast is from 7 till 9 and the signs posted say it’s only available M-F and since one of the mornings we were there was Sat, we had to ask if there was breakfast available, which it was, so signage needs to be updated. Kids running up and down the halls kept us up one night. We did use the back patio to sit by the lake which was nice. The balcony’s on the 4th floors are smaller than the balconies on floors 2 and 3 so I’d would have rather had floor 3. With 2 chairs and a table, we had to crawl over the chair to fit in.This property really needs some TLC all around from the halls to the rooms, just everywhere especially after the price we paid to stay here. Expected a lot nicer for over $350 a night.
