The hotel itself was very good, but my stay was seriously affected by the room I was given. The noise coming from the skylight area made it extremely difficult, and ultimately unbearable, to sleep.

When I raised the issue with the front desk, the response was disappointing. Rather than showing concern or exploring possible solutions, I was told that the hotel is in the city and that noise should be expected. I asked whether I could be moved to another room, but was told the hotel was completely full. I understand that hotels can be busy and that room changes are not always possible, but the level of customer service in handling the situation was far below what I would expect from a hotel of this standard.

What made the experience worse was the defensive tone. I was told that I had raised my voice, which I did not. That response made it feel as though the staff member was more focused on defending the situation than understanding the problem. When I mentioned the issue again to the manager or front desk attendant, I was told that the staff member had had a busy night and that the hotel was very full. While that may be true, it does not excuse the poor handling of a legitimate guest concern.

This could have been handled very differently. A simple apology, some empathy, or even an effort to acknowledge the inconvenience would have gone a long way. I was not looking for a discount or special treatment. I was looking for basic customer service and a sense that the hotel cared about the quality of my stay.

Unfortunately, the response I received turned a difficult night into a very disappointing overall experience. The hotel may be physically nice, but customer service matters, and in this case, it fell well short.

Pros:

Excellent location in the centre of capital Oslo. Very good breakfast buffé, very good beds. Very nice staff.

I really like this hotel and may very well choose it on next occasion as well.

Cons:

The window in my room at third floor facing to Railway square did not stop any noise from trams nor people, and I guess a better window would stop the noise and also save kW during winter.
But I got sleep and may very well choose this hotel again.

Great location. Poor service.
Pros:

Location was the best thing about this hotel. Perfect place in the middle of everything. Walking distance to everywhere and central public transport. Breakfast buffet was limited yet tasty. Staff were warm, helpful and friendly.

Cons:

We were only informed that there was a hotel service workers' strike and the room was not to be cleaned during our whole stay during our check-in. We were not even offered a compensation. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable for our choices, both me and my wife had back pains everyday. The sound isolation was poor so the busy street noise got into the room.
