Dana Point Marina Inn

My experience with customer service was extremely disappointing. While Ariaus at the front desk started out courteously, everything changed when he handed me the key to the first room, which was shockingly dirty. I requested to see another room, but unfortunately, the second room didn’t meet basic cleanliness standards either. When I tried to show him pictures and asked him to see the condition of the rooms himself, he dismissively remarked that we were in a two-star hotel located in a five-star area.

He then provided a key to a third room, yet it was just as unsatisfactory. Frustrated, I began calling other hotels for available rooms, but to my dismay, there were none. With no options left, I reluctantly decided to stay. Throughout this ordeal, Ariaus kept insisting that I could leave, but I countered with, “Where can I go? It’s 5 PM, and there are no available hotels.” I checked out the next morning at 8 AM, and he assured me that I would be reimbursed for the first night and the nights I didn’t stay, but unfortunately, he never followed through. This lack of accountability is simply unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

The hotel definitely needs some renovation. It wasn't particularly dirty, but it also wasn't one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. We found a couple of hairs on the bedsheets, and the curtains looked a little dirty or worn. They may not have actually been dirty, but their appearance wasn't particularly appealing and made the room feel less fresh.
We had also requested a baby cot in advance. The cot wasn't initially provided when we arrived. It was a small issue and not a major problem, as our baby could have slept with us, and perhaps it was simply overlooked.
The biggest downside for us was the parking. One evening, it was extremely difficult to find a parking space. We eventually managed to find one and squeeze the car in, but considering that parking is paid, we expected it to be a little easier. I don't know exactly how many parking spaces the hotel has compared with the number of rooms, but perhaps some spaces are also lost because cars aren't always parked perfectly, leaving less room for other vehicles.
Overall, it was a decent stay and, considering the price and location, I would rate it around 7–8/10. It's a fair option if you are looking for something affordable while still being within driving distance of the more expensive coastal areas.

A tad bit outdated. Green algae by pond, gate to pool broken, breakfast hours are very limited, only 2 hours.

I didn't like that they closed down all the surrounding stores and restaurants.

The staff were rude, except the night audit (i forgot his him name). But the morning front desk guy was very rude. He didn't seem happy to work there. And I work in hospitality. The housekeeping, didn't smile back or greeted us back. And looked annoyed when I asked for extra towels and toiletries. When we stayed there for 5 nights and they never did stay over service.. I say work on being more friendly to the guest.

For the money I paid for the room is good if the room was super clean but it smelled like somebody sweaty head on my pillows room was maybe $30 a night not my hundreds of dollars I gave this place I feel I've been ripped off I couldn't sleep I kept smelling heavy sweaty odor until I through two pillows to the floor and kept one and it went away my brother's girlfriend came we got another room what a difference everything was nice and clean & dry,,! & beds what a difference from the room that we had on the first floor the room was kind of like dampy moisture was Heavy in the room even the towels from the room being probably closed for a long time.?
