most things were ok.
no air conditioning & noisy at front of hotel with windows open on very hot night.
Location and good room size.
Lack of aircon but fan did the job.
Location
Unfortunately it was very hot as it’s the day when there is a heat wave. The 2 fans available were blowing off warm air. There were no rooms that are airconditioning so we couldn’t upgrade ourselves even if want.
Friendly staff and the breakfast

Breakfast
Complementary swim in pool
Room was very hot and the fan was inadequate
The staff were friendly and welcoming
Advertised swimming, arrived with my child to be told only certain times he can go in. Then on the allocated time 3 quarter of the pool taken up by lanes and lane swimmers, so only small area for family to have. Very misleading when you’re looking at the pictures. Way over priced and had to pay additional £5 to use the swimming pool and also £10 to park at the property. £160 a night is scandalous
The main reason I am leaving a review is Sebastian who was running the bar/restaurant this evening. Clearly he is man who knows exactly what he’s doing when it comes to customer service and care.
Also the ladies running breakfast were super lovely and kind to the boys.
We came to the village for a no frills stay for a graduation and it’s the people here that made it memorable. Thanks Sebastian and team.
The hotel and bedroom were clean.g
Good shower.
Disappointing breakfast. Bacon was overcooked. No fried eggs and noone told us you had to ask . It was ok the second night. The staff were lovely but don’t think it was worth the money. We have stayed a few times before and don’t remember being disappointed in the breakfast previously.

I stayed at the Village Hotel for 2 nights with my daughter. We had asked for a quiet room but got a room with the window overlooking what appeared to be a large and noisy air conditioning unit. This was ironic as there wasn't any air-conditioning in our room and the windows only opened about 4 cms (as there was an un-moveable security chain attached to both little windows) so our room was stiflingly hot with little or no fresh air and we slept very badly for 2 nights. We had asked to change room as soon as we walked into it and were offered the room next door as the only other available option. We were told that smoke drifted into the rooms at the front of the hotel and it could be noisy because of the wedding parties and car park and that we had in fact been given the quieter room. My daughter doesn't eat meat and the menu was extremely challenging for us. We arrived at breakfast at 9am to be told that breakfast finished at 9am on Mondays. I said that we had not been told this and the times of breakfast were not advertised anywhere in the hotel and the waitress said cheerily, "yeah that happens with a lot of our guests - a lot of guests miss our breakfast". We ordered a vegan sausage bap for lunch (as they said they could do vegan sausages) and was delivered, not a vegan sausage, but a veg burger (it looked like something taken out of the freezer and highly processed which dripped of some sort of fat when it was cut into it - it definitely wasn't home made anyway and it definitely wasn't the vegan sausage bap we had ordered. It had one slice of tomato on it. I think it was £16). I asked for the outside wooden slatted table to be cleaned before we ate as it was covered in fag ends and beer stains and it was sticky to the touch and dirty. They took away the dirty beer glasses but not the ash and not even a wipe down of the table. It was definitely the dirtiest place I have eaten for a very very long time. We were eating outside as it was very hot inside and very noisy on account of there being about 6 TVs permanently on- there is only one outside space (you can see it in the photo of the front of the hotel - its either side of the top of the stairs). We were told there wasn't any other outdoor space, and every table outside for almost the entire time we stayed there was occupied by a guest(s) either vaping or smoking. There were guests vaping and smoking near the sole hotel entrance too again almost the entire time we were there. The hotel seemed to be ok with this. I asked reception if there was an area for non-smokers to eat - something I have never had to ask at a hotel before - and she said "no but the smokers should go to the smoking room". But it appeared that the hotel did not mind the fact that there wasn't a space for people to eat who do not smoke. So if you dislike eating outside with wafts of smoke drifting over you from neighbouring tables or when you are walking in and out of the hotel entrance this is definitely not the place for you. Please note there is a Starbucks onsite and I know Starbucks usually do a vegan option but, as the fridge was out of order for the whole of our stay, there wasn't anything available apart from cakes. I would not stay here again and I can't recommend it. Felt like very poor student accommodation and was very expensive for what we got. On a positive note the staff are friendly. This hotel could easily make a few changes and make the hotel a whole lot better but guests aren't asked for feedback so maybe Village Hotel Cardiff management like it as it is?
Good size bed. Shower room in excellent condition. Shower unit worked well. Breakfast was organised well and of good quality
When we walked in the room the heat hit us. There was some form of air conditioning machine which was not turned on and when it was put on, it was ineffective or did not work properly. Neither of us slept well, especially me. We know it was hot weather but the hotel fails because it did not have equipment to help with this
Reception staff were good and friendly
The room was like a greenhouse had to ask for a fan and soap as the soap dispenser was broken
Satf
A bit like a caravan park facilty
Pool and spa area excellent
Hot, sticky rooms. Like being in a sauna - no sleep what so ever. Also a huge box on wall outside bedroom making a noise.
Couldn’t even get any air from outside as window opened about 5 cm.
Lack of air conditioning or fan that was any good. We did ask for another fan but no one came back to us
Lots of parking and great lively vibe.
Amazing g pool and gym area.
Very clean.
No fans or air conditioning and was extremely hot.
