Fantastic hotel in beautiful location
Pros:

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Staff were so friendly and helpful, our room was spotless and had everything one could want with so much attention to detail. Our party of 4 agreed that it was the absolute highlight of our trip (we stayed in 9 hotels in a short time) and we just can't wait to return to L’Auberge in Sedona.

Cons:

It was a bit upsetting that the shady loungers at the pool one had to pay extra for - the cabanas are understandable but that felt wrong and taking advantage of people who can’t tolerate sun.

High expectations, disappointing experience.
Pros:

We chose L'Auberge de Sedona because of its reputation for luxury hospitality and exceptional guest experiences. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of those expectations.

We had a 1:30 p.m. lunch reservation at Cress, but upon arrival the restaurant could not find our reservation. Fortunately, we were seated anyway. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. It took approximately 35 minutes before our server acknowledged our table and took our order. By 2:20 p.m., our appetizers had arrived, yet our beverages had still been forgotten. We had to ask for them before they were finally brought to the table. At no point refills were offered on our drinks.

While the food itself was good, the service was extremely disappointing. At no point did our server apologize for the lengthy delay in taking our order or for forgetting our drinks. The only bright spot was the gentleman who delivered our food. He was friendly and professional, providing a level of service that stood in stark contrast to our server. At the end, the server came over and simply asked, "are we ready for the check?" to which we replied, YES!!!

Still tipped at least 15% but left very, very unhappy with the service. During lunch, we also noticed that several nearby tables appeared to be experiencing similar service delays, suggesting that our experience was not an isolated incident.

What made the experience even more disappointing was that we had intended to celebrate a birthday by making a dinner reservation at Cress that evening. After our lunch experience, we canceled those plans and chose to dine elsewhere off the property.

Unfortunately, the issues extended beyond the restaurant. The room bathroom was not the cleanest, fixtures were loose and the bathroom vent was hanging off the ceiling. The room furniture was way too outdated with plenty of scratches and visible damages. The valet staff came across as rude and entitled on every interaction to get our vehicle to go out or retrieve items from it. For a mandatory fee of $35 + tax a day, I would expect common courtesy.

Our room at the Lodge was next to a private event (wedding) venue right below the Duck Pond. Screams, loud music and banging continued throughout the night. No heads-up or any apology was offered from management since the resort prides itself on tranquility. We understand the need to host special vents but they can be better coordinated and further away from rooms where guests pay $600+ a night to sleep and relax.

When we raised our concerns with the concierge, there was no apparent effort to involve management or make the situation right. For a place that prides itself on being a premium resort, they seriously lack the will to make good on that claim.

L'Auberge states that its goal is for every guest stay to exceed expectations and provide thoughtful, personalized service that helps guests connect, relax, and create meaningful memories. The resort also emphasizes responsive Guest Services and a commitment to exceptional hospitality. Based on our experience, those values were simply not reflected in the service we received.

For a property that positions itself as a luxury destination, the lack of urgency, accountability, cleanliness, and proactive guest recovery was disappointing. We expected much more from L'Auberge de Sedona.

Beautiful and relaxing resort - great experience!
Pros:

Wonderful property from its base at Oak Creek to its multi-levels of accommodations providing unobstructed views of Sedona's beautiful red rock landscape and clear night skies. Staff is incredibly attentive but not fussy; pools are inviting, on-site and room service dining are prompt and tasty; spa services are top-notch, and rooms (particularly Vista Cottages) are spacious and quiet. The entire resort is just serene and relaxing, and let's you forget your concerns and just take-in the beauty of nature and the Sedona area.

Boffo. Every bit of it.
Pros:

Can I wax lyrical?

Jaded business traveler, jaded no more. I expect perfection in a hotel of this caliber, and this property delivers in spades. The spectacular views, the facilities, the comfortable rooms, the front desk that is eager to please. This is a property designed to lower your blood pressure a notch or two, and it shows in operations so smooth and flawless, it borders on telepathic.

Need extra pillows? They appear within minutes. Need Austin to pick you up at a restaurant at 10:00 at night? Snap your fingers and, lo, there he is as if he were a latter-day Mercury. This guy was so quick between my phone call and his arrival at the restaurant, you wonder if something supernatural is at work. As if I need to sacrifice a goat to this gentleman.

On the whole, a completely satisfying experience. No idea on the spa, but I'll take the word of other guests on that score, the folks who entered all tense and brittle, yet emerged limp like spaghetti noodles once the technicians did their work. We're observant that way.

So, yeah, a total endorsement from me.

My husband and I had the most delightful and delicious dinner at Cress. Mac gave us some excellent recommendations (don’t skip the mushrooms or the dessert!) - and the atmosphere / food / service was just excellent. We will definitely come back!

Great Location - Beautiful Hotel - Skip the Restaurant
Pros:

Really a beautiful location and amazing views. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Beautiful robes and slippers. We stayed at The Cliffs and had views of the mountains from our balcony. The only draw back for this hotel is the quality of the food in the restaurant and the kitchen doesn't seem to be well run. We sat at the bar and ordered two chicken sandwiches one with fries one with salad. One came out warm the other cold with dry cold fries - not what you would expect for a 5 star hotel. At breakfast we had a similar experience - one hot omelet and one scramble egg breakfast with dry cold toast. They replaced the cold toast but waited to bring our requested tabasco with the new toast and our entire meal got cold waiting for the tabasco. We also asked for water refills 3x but no one came. It wasn't even busy - so I just think they have communication issues and the kitchen needs some training. Overall the food taste/quality in the restaurant is only ok. The prices are 5 star, but the food is about on par with what you'd get at a Hilton Garden Inn (which isn't bad - but not what you expect for a 5 star hotel)

Great Stay Overall, Better Communication Would Help
Pros:

Overall, we had a great stay and were very pleased with the hotel, the service, and the accommodations. The only disappointment was that the Duck Pond was closed during our visit. We were not informed of this prior to making the reservation, and had we known in advance, it would have helped us better set our expectations. Aside from that, everything else was excellent and we enjoyed our stay.

Couples retreat to rekindle the soul.
Pros:

A very beautiful resort that was nestled in between red mountains and a very relaxing river. You felt like you were in the middle of nature but with everything you can imagine to make you feel like a King and Queen. We went on a couples only retreat and left the kids behind to get a way and relax in nature. The hiking trails are only around 10 minute drive away. We went to Bell rock, Cathedral Rock and Slide Rock on our quick visit. We stayed in during the hot afternoons at the Spa and pools to beat the summer heat. In my short 53yrs on this planet, this resort has to be one of the best places I have ever stayed. The fact that the grounds are immaculate and the views are top notch the place had every amenity you could imagine. I would love to go back and visit again and watch the golden sunrise from one of the many spots on the resort.

Lost opportunity to please frequent traveler
Pros:

Ideal location with world-class views and wonderful accommodations, but weekend marred by lapse in judgment regarding service issue. First of all, kudos to a few employees who went over and beyond call of duty, especially Hugo, Brian, Ashley and Christina. Despite an extremely busy weekend, these people made us feel welcome and appreciated.

Decided at last minute to spend weekend in Sedona. Opted to use Chase Travel to book our stay. Chase offered a host of benefits including complimentary breakfast and based on availability upgrade early check-in/late check-out. Upon check in, the front desk went over all of these very much appreciated extras. We didn't ask, nor we offered an upgrade during check-in. All was good until we got a text the night before our departure offering to assist us with wake-up call, luggage assistance and anything else regarding departure. I texted the agent back reminding them about the hotel's offer for late check-out. I got a quick response saying my departure had been extended to noon. I immediately called the property and asked the front desk about receiving a "late" check out. During my previous stays at this property, I had booked using American Express and they offer a guaranteed 4 pm checkout, which allows one to enjoy the last day at the pool without the rush and anxiety of vacating the room early. I was told that the hotel's policy that any departures after noon results in an additional fee. At this point I asked if there was a manager on duty. Minutes later I received a phone call from Sarahlynn who was the on-duty hospitality manager. She immediately took the offensive with me and told me that the hotel's policies are firm. I mentioned my prior experience with AMEX and she said I should have booked with AMEX instead. I then told her that based on their website's availability there were rooms for sale in the same category we were in on the night of my departure. Her "immediate" response was that some other party had requested the specific room number we were in and we would have to depart on time. NUFF SAID.

The following morning, I went to the front desk and asked if we could extend our stay in the same room and was told absolutely, our room was still available. Later the valet staff told me that they had a huge departure day with very little check-in traffic.

What a missed opportunity to indulge us for a few extra hours of leisure. Can't imagine it would have cost the property any out of pocket costs. Even if this room was spoken for, Sarahlynn could have offered us a different room in which to store our clothes and use for a few hours. Unfortunately, this marred an otherwise terrific weekend. Can only hope that the recently hired general manager, Kevin Pickard, will restore this property to greatness. Have heard great things about him.
