You get what you pay for - staff are good, spa area is ok, massages are very good - ok for a quick short local break.
Pros:

The staff are friendly.
The pool and spa area are ok.
My wife had a massage which she said was very good.
The restaurant setting is nice and the breakfast was nice with good ingredients.
The location is within a short drive to the waterfront.

Cons:

It is tired. The reception appears nice and maintained however beyond that the hotel is needing some attention.
Our room was a good size and presented nicely however there were stains on the wallpaper, the arm chair next to the bed had some large stains on it as did the bedside cabinet handle which was next to it - I suspect it had been a spilt drink - didn’t look good on a light coloured arm chair and I chose not to use it.
The early check in fees are rather expensive at £15 however on checking out I found out that this was actually £15 per hour - which felt unreasonable especially as the spa treatment had been booked by the hotel for 1pm - the reception staff did only charge me £15 on questioning it.

Good value but a few basics a little disappointing
Pros:

A comfortable, quite lavishly furnished hotel in a pleasant location. Very reasonably sized room. Some attentive reception staff. Very competitive room-rate.

Cons:

Breakfast was rather disappointing - the cooked items were kept in a rather lukewarm buffet cabinet. This actually put me off trying the other items. For anyone with mobility issues, lots of walking inside the hotel and several sets of stairs. Quite a social gulf between the bar and restaurant

Pros:

Setting was good and the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. The pool is lovely with a good range of depths. Lovely bar area and both evening meal and breakfast was excellent. Particularly impressed with the GF offerings.

Cons:

Nothing was bad. The hotel could do with a lick of paint and is beginning to look a bit tired in places.

Nice stay, comfortable bed, large room.
Pros:

Lovely location and grand hotel. The front entrance was beautiful decorated with marble floors. There was lots of parking. Quick check in and check out. Friendly staff, overall good service.
