Hotel was good value , staff were pleasant breakfast was a buffet but good variety
Pros:

all good

Cons:

We had an evening meal , are first choices on the menu were not available the hotel had no lamb shanks, no pork chops, no vanilla ice cream which seemed poor for a 4 star hotel , tv could do with upgrading and maybe a pay for view service , there was no bluetooth so could not stream any content its 2026 pretty standard stuff

The hotel is tired and could be with some refurbishments to bring it to IHG standards.
Pros:

The location was ideal and the bed was comfortable.

Cons:

My room window was left open as it was a little stuffy. The carpet was visibly stained we is off putting and there were not many choices for food. It shouldn't cost a hotel much to keep the carpets clean and fresh. Outside the hotel, there was a group of men mainly elderly smoking and drinking which put me off going out of the hotel for a walk after dinner.

Avoid
Pros:

Leaving

Cons:

Zero air conditioning, room was roasting, couldn’t open the window nor could the staff, I put water in the fridge to cool and the fridge wasn’t even working. The water was warmer coming out than when I put it in. They had fans in the room but they were only circulating the heat. Awful experience for over £100 per night,

Do not recommended…
Pros:

Reception and bar staff are always super friendly.

Cons:

Unfortunately, this was our third stay at this Holiday Inn, we were really disappointed at how much it had gone down hill in the 18 months since our last event/stay. Air con has been decommissioned as the powers that be above thought it too expensive, leaving us super uncomfortable for our entire stay with temperatures between 24-28, adding that we were on the fourth floor with just a tiny window that opened minimally. We had two fans and a cooling machine, all just blowing around hot air, it was just so uncomfortable.

Breakfast after the first night sleep, we discussed how the quality of the food had changed since previous stays, watery beans, hash browns super dry, one big bottle of honey (plus other items) which were passed around all guests, just a germ nightmare. Breakfast this morning, after plating up our full English and sitting down eating it, other guest came over to us and advised us that the sausages were raw, we had both water one sausage, we cut into the second sausage and the were indeed completely pink… absolute disgrace!

We were told to write our contact details on a piece of paper, which also included other guests details, we hope to hear from the hotel as we really do want to discuss our concerns, this is a short breakdown… and we are not complainers at all!
