Excellent location of this small and trendy hotel. Highly recommended.
The restaurant one block from the beautiful Ipanema beach is excellent. Very well located to nearby downtown Ipanema neighborhood.
Limpeza, educação e prontidão do pessoal, localização

Before coming to Rio, we did a lot of research regarding the best (& safest) areas to stay in the city) and based on reviews & location we decided the Ipanema Inn would suit our needs perfectly. We did also consider staying up in Santa Teresa but having passed through it, we were glad we chose to stay in Ipanema for it's proximity to everything & easy metro access.
The hotel itself it clean & nicely decorated and all of the staff that we met on reception spoke English which was handy for us as our Portuguese is limited to a few words! We had a Superior room which is a bit larger, but even this was pretty small, but we knew beforehand that most rooms in Rio are small, so if you are worried about space it's definitely worth paying the extra for the slightly larger room.
All the staff at reception & in the breakfast area were very helpful & friendly and although we didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner, we loved the breakfasts they served. You can choose either the large breakfast of eggs, local breads (very tasty!), fruit etc, or 2 dishes from the main menu which consisted of things like eggs benedict & tapioca pancakes.
As others have mentioned, the location is perfect as you are right across the road from Ipanema beach and the hotel provides free chairs & towels to use. You just take a towel from reception & there is a kiosk directly opposite on the beach where you tell them you are with the hotel & they set you up wherever you want to sit with chairs & a parasol. They also bring you drinks on a tab, which you pay before leaving the beach.
Our flight arrived about 5am, so we were at the hotel by 7:30am & of course couldn't get into our room yet, as expected. So we spent the morning at the botanical gardens (worth visiting) & then around lunch made the most of the beach service & enjoyed some amazing caipirinhas surrounded by the local Cariocas, playing football, relaxing & having fun with friends & family on the beach.
There are lots of easily walkable restaurants from the hotel & we walked everywhere, even at night & never felt threatened. Just keep your phone hidden on the street & stick to busy areas & you will be fine. There is also quite a lot of police presence in Ipanema which helps make you feel more secure.
There is a metro station literally 5 mins walk from the hotel so it's very easy to get into Centro on that, avoiding the traffic. Otherwise Uber works very well & is a cheap / safe way to get around the city.
We also walked to nearly the other end of Copacabana beach from the hotel, which is about 30-45 mins walk each way, but it was a nice way to spend a Sunday, watching all the people running, cycling, playing football & just having fun. Having said that we did both agree that we preferred Ipanema overall to Copacabana as an area to stay in, but Copacabana is still worth visiting during the day.
Overall we absolutely loved Rio & Brazil! There are few cities in the world that can match it in terms of natural setting & beauty (only Cape Town & Sydney come close!) but it's the Brazilian people who really make it. They are some of the friendliest, outgoing & happy people you could ever meet & despite the language barrier they always tried to engage with us and exuded energy & positivity. In fact the whole of Rio has a buzz like we have never felt in any other city in the world. I can only imagine what it is like during carnival!
Location was excellent.
Room and bath were on the small side.
