Pros:

If you want a great Denali Lodge experience this is your place. Service was great. We loved our van drivers, (Roger, Clancy & Val.)They were very accommodating with pickup and drop off areas. Front desk was efficient and friendly.

Noisy pipes but wonderful employees and location
Pros:

The best part about this property is its location and the employees who were really welcoming and lovely. Our room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, and appeared to be recently constructed/renovated. Unfortunately, my only complaint is a fairly significant one. We stayed in building 23 and immediately upon arrival around 5pm heard what sounded like drilling. It was brief but we heard it again multiple times throughout the evening sometimes close by, sometimes more distant. There was no obvious construction going on so we went to reception to ask about it. The answer was that it was the water pipes rattling, they were aware of it, and there wasn’t anything they could do. Fortunately, the noise seemed to be limited to when the shower/toilets were in use so for the most part it didn’t interrupt our sleep. The one morning we heard a ton of pipes rattling around 6am was Saturday because I suspect a lot of people were checking out to get the bus, as were we. My advice would be to bring a noise machine, avoid building 23, and hope that no one is showering when you are trying to sleep. It’s too bad because otherwise this property would have gotten a glowing review.

Great hotel with a view
Pros:

We loved our stay at the Denali Bluffs Hotel. Our room was in building 24, at end of the 2nd floor, with a great balcony with 2 chairs and a view. If you open the window or slider, you will hear and see the main road from above. Great staff, shuttle service, restaurant and laundry. I would stay here again.

Great Location, Beautiful Views and Excellent Stay
Pros:

The hotel has beautiful views of Denali National Park. The property is very modern while still maintaining a rustic Alaskan feel. The rooms are large and provide everything you need, with the exception of an iron and ironing board, which are available upon request.

Our room, as well as the entire property, was very clean. Service was very good from check-in through check-out.

The hotel also has a nice restaurant with very good food and service. Just down the hill is an area known as Glitter Gulch, where you'll find a number of unique local restaurants, bars, and shops. It's an easy walk from the hotel.

The location is another big plus. You're just a few minutes from the entrance to Denali National Park and a number of great hiking trails.

Overall, a very comfortable stay with beautiful views, good service, and an excellent location for exploring Denali.

Comfortable and convenient
Pros:

Room was nice, clean, spacious. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They coordinated well with the railroad with transfer of baggage and shuttles to the railroad and hotel. The rooms have balconies, but our view was obstructed by trees. Other rooms appeared to have views of the rooms in front of . Restaurant had good casual food and we enjoyed live music on the deck.. There was a lot of noise , enough to wake your sleep, when other guests shut their doors or turned on the shower. Being on a lower floor, it sounded like the upstairs guests were stomping around. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Don't go -
Pros:

Don't go
1) we made a reservation in Oct 25, for a stay in 7/26. We reserved a king size bed.
2) we arrived and were told that they downgraded us to 2 twin beds - great way to celebrate our anniversary - nothing helped. Spoke with an uninterested front desk supervisor, who told us that the rooms aren't guaranteed (even that we prepaid 9 months ahead of time
3) the shower leaked and filled the bathroom with water
4) the walls are super thin - you will hear everything your neighbors are doing
Bad experience

Location only positive
Pros:

Location only positive. Rooms tiny & no amenities, not even a bottled water. Asked for a king, got a double, no view, highway noise all night, tiny bathroom, extremely in need of renovations. Very expensive dinner that was average, expensive breakfast with fake eggs, drinks watered down and expensive.

Nice room, parking is a challenge
Pros:

What a wonderful place. Parking is a challenge, but grateful we were able to find a half way decent parking spot. The rooms were nice and comfortable and we had a very nice hill-side view of Denali National Park. Restaurant on site, which saved us going back out.

Tree-covered views and sewage smells made this a less-than perfect experience.
Pros:

We visited Denali Bluffs Hotel for three nights as part of a two-week Alaska vacation. There were a myriad of things wrong with this place.

- First, sewage smell... they have big issues with their sewage disposal and need to manually pump out their system into waiting trucks at least once/day. This means there's a horrible sewage smell whenever this process takes place. The trucks back up into the main driveway, right by the lobby and restaurant entrance.

- Second, there are EPIC views of snow-covered mountains across the valley from this hotel, but in most rooms, you'd never know it because they let thick groups of trees grow in front of many of the rooms. When we checked in, I was excited to see the view from our balcony, I threw open the curtain and could not see anything (like absolutely nothing) through the trees they allowed to grow. I went to the front desk and met Simon (I believe was his name) who was awesome and was moved to another room on the 2nd floor which had better, but not excellent views of the hills.

- The third was an absolutely and completely incompetent manager at the restaurant bar. We'd spent thousands of dollars during our stay there, yet this clueless individual argued with me over a $10 charge related to a voucher given to us by our tour company. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say, he escalated this situation to a point completely and totally inappropriate for someone in the service business. This guy should not be customer facing.

The hotel rooms, despite the lack of views, were comfortable and the hotel is located near a number of attractions which made its central location attractive.

There are other places to stay in the area and I'd suggest looking there first.

Rough around the edges
Pros:

The hotel is rough around the edges. Some areas are needing maintenance, toilet in lobby not working, and a staircase was falling apart. My biggest complaint is that I took a shower at 2 in the afternoon when there should have been plenty of hot water. It was lukewarm at best.
On the other hand-The staff was kind and helpful. I appreciate the front desk folks.

Stay somewhere else
Pros:

Not a great experience here. Room was really small and not clean. Staff was not helpful. Paper thin walls. The onsite restaurant had good food, but expensive. Coffee shop on site had minimal offerings. I asked the host at the hotel for a wine glass to take to my room and he said he didn't have enough and they never came back like I was going to steal it??!!

Disappointed in Denali
Pros:

Beautiful location with the Mountain View‘s however it’s directly over a major highway so if one of your nice rooms is overlooking the river, unfortunately you will be listening lots of traffic also, the hotel is very cheaply constructed, and if you happen to have a downstairs room, you will hear every single conversation, water in the pipes, and every single dropped item and footsteps of those above and around you. The only amenities that are provided to you in your room are trash cans, a couple of lamps, a roll of single ply toilet paper and one very small bar of cheap soap that does not lather. You also get two hard pillows & cheap linens with no housekeeping services unless you ask for it

Cosy and relatively clean rooms. But no AC!
Pros:

Friendly staff. We had rooms 2122 and 2121 on the ground floor. The views were nice but rooms on the smaller side. Visiting in June, I was surprised to see temperatures as high as 16c, and no fans or ACs in unit. It doesn’t say this anywhere so be sure to ask when booking in summer.

Verging on disgusting
Pros:

Verging on disgusting. Some reviewers say they got a great room. But unfortunately ours was gross. Dirty carpet, terrible bed, awful bed linens, and room was tiny. One of our party found a dark hair in her bed.

We got the best room in the house somehow
Pros:

You will read that the rooms are dated. We can’t attest to that, some of the buildings were built 20-30 years ago. We were in an upper building on the end with a king-size bed with two huge windows and a wrap around balcony. Spoiler alert; you cannot see Mount Denali from any rooms as the hotel manager informed us, but there is a trail behind the hotel in which you can hike a couple miles and see Denali on a clear day. The next day we took a flight to Denali on one of the most clear and windless days you could ever ask for and saw both the north and south faces from the air. One of the best days of our lives. The room was clean and, yes, the walls are paper thin. They trucked in water when we were there in late May as there were issues with water at the water filtration plant due to spring runoff of fine silt into the river which precluded using osmosis for filtration. The water in the room tasted good and was just fine, FYI. Our room required Billy Goat abilities if you are mobility challenged. This hotel is not very suitable for people who don’t do well on stairs. The view from our room was spectacular and we sat out on the deck and took in all that is Alaska. There were some front desk service quirks as it is still early in the season. There are restaurants nearby, but the best value we found (and the best souvenir grabs) is at the Princess Hotel across the highway (you can go to all their restaurants and shops without being on one of their cruises). The shops and additional restaurants are located behind the main building. The restaurant in the Bluffs was warm and personalized like a cabin in the woods with lots of genuine historical artifacts. We had a minor food issue which was quickly corrected during their “soft” opening. The luggage situation is a bit quirky. You put your luggage out beside your door before 9:00 a.m. on the day you leave and they bring it to the train station. Checkout is at 10:00 a.m.; not very user friendly as our Alaska Rail train did not leave until 4:00 p.m. We were stuck hanging out for six hours. We rated the hotel 5/5 because it’s a beautiful property, clean, and the restaurant people were great.

Were They "Bluffing" When They Said it was a Highly Rated Hotel?
Pros:

Let me start off with stating that everything in Denali is expensive, so I won't talk about price. The hotel itself has a very courteous staff that addressed anything we asked for. The rooms are small. The bathroom is small and of the variety where the bathroom sink is outside of the bathroom. The shower pressure and temperature of the water was good. The television was as small as my computer monitor back home and had poor resolution. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything going on in the room next door. It is also a little disturbing that when someone next door slams a door, the walls in your room shake. There was really not much of a view from our room - just a copse of trees between the hotel and a loud highway. It is nice that they have a shuttle that runs to the Denali visitor center and Denali downtown (it took me a little while to realize that "down town" was a strip mall and a gas station). In summary, if I come this way again, I won't be staying at the Denali Bluffs hotel.

Enjoyable Stay
Pros:

We had originally been booked at the Grand Denali, but due to a water problem there, we were moved to the Bluffs. The staff did an awesome job accommodating all those who had been moved. Check in was swift and our rooms comfortable. We ate all our meals at their Mountaineer Grill. Food was very good and service was outstanding. A shout our to Cayman, our very skilled and friendly server. We enjoyed ourselves here and highly recommend staying at the Bluffs.
