Pure Relaxation from Start to Finish
Pros:

My main goal for this vacation was simple: escape the cold Chicago weather and indulge in some much-needed spa time. Pelican Grand Beach Resort and Pure Spa exceeded my expectations.

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff throughout the property. Whether at the restaurant, by the pool, or on the beach, service was always quick, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

Spa treatments were the highlight of my stay. I enjoyed treatments every day of my getaway, and every experience was pure pleasure. Jean gave exceptional facials with an incredibly delicate approach and truly magic hands. Darby and Susan were both wonderful massage therapists—professional, skilled, and friendly. A special thank you to Susan for the after-sun treatment that absolutely saved me after a little too much Florida sunshine.

I would also like to recognize the two spa administrators. They went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my experience was seamless. My requests were not only heard but consistently accommodated, which made me feel genuinely cared for throughout my stay.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience at both Pelican Grand Beach Resort and Pure Spa. The combination of excellent service, a beautiful beachfront setting, and an outstanding spa made this a truly relaxing getaway. I will definitely be back and look forward to visiting again.

Our Favorite Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort Bistro!
Pros:

We had an amazing dining experience at Ocean2000 at The Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale! Chef Steve’s food was absolutely delicious, and our server, Carlos, was incredible from start to finish.

We enjoyed the Crispy Grouper Sandwich, fried calamari, buffalo wings, oysters Rockefeller, and tuna tartare (not pictured because we devoured it too quickly!). Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.

The food is just as amazing as the oceanfront view. Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful experience — we’ll definitely be back!

6th Time! Expensive but worth it!
Pros:

Pelican Grand the resort where you DON'T need to leave. From the pool to the beach, spa, to the food its truly heaven. This marks my 6th stay from yearly solo trips, to couples trips, to sisters / family vacations even my bachelorette its my go to US destination.

On this specific trip we were celebrating my sisters birthday & cancer battle so this trip was extra special. Pelican Grand is beautiful and welcoming everywhere on the grounds. Additionally the hospitality at Pelican Grand is unmatched some key members who surprise me year after year.

*Pool - Gio & Hani remember us from every single trip by name!
*Beach - Rec - Adam- he's incredible-- he notices everything and always checks in when he sees us.
*Matthew - Ocean2000 made us feel special every single meal for the 5 nights we were there.
*Mark - Concierge / Bell Hop - he was there every single day waiting to just help. He is kind and truly set the tone for the trip. He should run the front desk!

A note for the hotel / management: we had some security issues with a faulty hinge on our hotel room door prevented it from self-closing, which is a security issue, especially for 3 ladies traveling with cash, designer bags, and a week worth of goods. Front desk did not take me seriously after 3 firm follow ups and even hung up on me they finally sent someone up from maintenance and we opted for no one else to enter our room as there are no cameras in the halls. Please be attentive that staff closes the doors after leaving the rooms, and try to make sure the hinges are in good working order as this would deter me from returning solely due to security measures.

Pros:

Ocean front

Cons:

The hotel is in need of maintenance starting with paint. I had mold over my head in the restaurant from the air vent, one of the air vents was about to fall out in the middle of the room. My balcony was in need of repair and paint. It had a chip about 6" long of missing and there was mold and rust showing on the banister of the balcony. The door leading out to the balcony was so squeaky we just propped it open to avoid the noise every time we walked out. The room was a studio when I paid $700.00 for a one bedroom. There was no kitchen as I purchased. The valet parking attendant lied to me and my friend asked the same question and got exactly what I was asking for. There was NO PHONE SERVICE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE of the hotel so I missed meeting up with friends for dinner and breakfast. I will not ever stay here again.

Disappointing Family Stay and Concerns About Value, Cleanliness, and Service
Pros:

I’m writing this review from the perspective of a parent, because this is exactly the kind of information I would want to know before booking a hotel with young children.

We stayed here with our children, including a baby and a five-year-old, and I was extremely disappointed. At over $900 per night, I expected a much higher level of cleanliness, service, convenience, and attention to detail — especially for families.

To be fair, the room itself was a nice size and generally comfortable. But the property overall felt tired and in need of basic upkeep. It may have been a beautiful hotel in prior years, but it now needs repainting, refreshing, and much better cleaning. One example that really stood out: my five-year-old held onto a banister while walking up a ramp, and his hand was literally covered in black grime afterward. As a parent, that was very off-putting. It also meant I had to have a wipe handy every time he used a banister to walk up/down stairs or a ramp.

The biggest issue for us was that the hotel did not feel thoughtfully set up for families with young children. I called ahead to ask about a crib and highchair, so the hotel clearly knew we were traveling with little kids. I did not think to specifically ask about a bathtub because the hotel photos I had seen showed tubs. When we arrived, we were told that only rooms on higher floors have bathtubs; we were placed on the second floor. For a family traveling with a baby, that matters. The removable shower head in our room also could not reach more than about two feet, which made bathing two kids virtually impossible and made every evening unnecessarily stressful.

Another major problem was the elevator situation. One of the two elevators was out of service, and an employee told me it had been out of service for as long as he could remember. With a stroller, taking the stairs was not really an option. Often, when the one working elevator finally arrived, it was full and could not fit us. At one point, I waited more than 15 minutes just to go one floor. That may sound minor, but when you are traveling with small children, a stroller, and all the things that come with them, it becomes a real inconvenience.

There were several other details that made the stay feel far from family-friendly or luxury-level. The hotel requires towel cards, which felt out of place at a resort charging luxury prices. They also charge you $20 if you lose a towel card (!). A stuffed animal was placed in the room, and when we asked the bellhop whether it was complimentary, he said yes. It was not. We were also locked out of our room after receiving late checkout (late checkout was a benefit through my travel booking, not the hotel, to be clear).

As one positive, the pool has a zero entry (perfect for playing with a baby) and there is a lazy river. The lazy river wasn't the cleanest, but it was sufficient and it worked well for two kids at the pool. Both pool and lazy river were on the small side though.

The food was also very expensive and underwhelming. There is an automatic 22% gratuity added, and even a single child’s scoop of ice cream was $9. I had a $50 breakfast credit for two people, which was not enough to cover an entrée and coffee for two once the automatic gratuity was added, so we ended up spending much more each morning. For families trying to factor in the real cost of a stay, that is worth knowing. Parking was also $60 per night, with no practical nearby alternatives.

There was also frustrating confusion with our bill. I was sent a bill, reviewed it, asked for a credit to be applied, and was then sent a second, lower bill. At checkout, however, I was given the original higher bill and told the second bill was incorrect. If it was incorrect, I do not understand why it was sent to me in the first place. The lack of clarity and competence added unnecessary frustration at the end of an already disappointing stay.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to families with young children, especially at this price point. The room was spacious, but the cleanliness, maintenance, elevator issues, lack of bathtub, confusing billing, and very high incidental costs made the stay far more stressful than it should have been. For a hotel charging luxury-resort rates, I expected a much more polished and family-conscious experience.

Luxury resort, at a price
Pros:

Wonderful Florida resort but prices definitely high end. With fees and taxes expect the $1000 per night range.
Food in Ocean 2000 was excellent. Octopus was probably the best I've tasted, and sea bass was seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Overall, a good experience.... but that price tag ???????????

Great location, easy to navigate property with entertainment sprinkled in perfect for all ages!
Pros:

Love the resort layout , the building was easy to navigate, had a bar with food at one end and a restaurant at the other with a beach front patio that connected the two areas. Perfect for families and seniors. Love that almost all staff was super friendly. Loved the direct beach access. The pool was not too busy even on a holiday weekend. The property included a few events like bingo, snow cones and other games on the beach. The patio had live music. The ice-cream store was a nice touch or bonus including muffins and bagels etc. the location was perfectly far away from the main strip chaos. Close enough to visit and far enough away to feel like a quiet escape. I enjoyed how close we were to the local state park as well. The pool service was amazing! Accommodations made for my handicapped mom and Asd son daily ! The room was perfect loved the beds the high ceilings and large bath area. The furniture was a little dated and worn but didn’t impact out stay. I loved the roof top terrace on the 11th floor- is you stay go see the priceless views ! A local told me about it. Loved taking the ride with my teens on the sea Bob- what a unique and fun experience! It was great to have a property that accommodated my senior mom with a walker as well as my active teens!

Cons:

The front desk check in was a huge turn off. No details on the property, like pulling teeth to get answers. No literature or map available for what the property had to offer. The questions I asked were answered with bare minimal responses and the employee seemed not cut for the job. When communication is minimal and literature is non existent this was a bad start to the stay. I would like to have had a small tangible document that told us more about the property. I would have liked the option to have or not have our room stocked with junk food and alcohol. When we arrived we had minimal space for our own items ( small refrigerator) and when asked to remove the 15 plus bottles or cans of alcohol, and junk food I was told there would be a $75 fee to do so. This too was a turn off. I now needed to monitor my children and the resorts junk food and alcohol ! Not interested in spending the $ on kid impulses and a more important access to alcohol. The communication was done well through texting for the most part. But that human component and with clear communication can not be replaced by technology. The face of the resort is the front desk and check in process and this resort did not have it for me for being a $500 plus a night property. The hospitality of the rest of the employees seemed to be wonderful. Especially the kitchen chef , food runners and pool staff!

VERY RELAXING 5 DAY GIRLS TRIP
Pros:

From the beginning of our girls trip (three sisters), to our last moments there, every corner of the resort is beautifully appointed, grand, and welcoming. The hospitality at Pelican Grand is unmatched; every single member of the staff we encountered at the resort was extremely accommodating, attentive, friendly, and helpful.
On our first day, we arrived early and laid by the pool, and enjoyed lunch and drinks, and then went up for a triple "couples" salt stone massage in the Pure Spa, where we literally thought we died and went to heaven. I had Avanel as my therapist, my sister had Vicky, and my other sister had Darby-- these ladies were so skilled at giving the most relaxing massage, that we decided to book another one for the day of our departure.
Our days at the resort had a rhythm, wake up and enjoy the sunrise from our balcony, get dressed for the day, grab a coffee (coffee is great btw) from the adorable little coffee/gift/ice cream shop downstairs, and then head for the beach! On the beach chairs, side tables and umbrellas are brought down to the shore, you don't have to lift a finger for anything. At 11am lunch and drink service starts, and the servers are really wonderful. When we grew tired of the beach, we made our way to the pool to lounge and swim, and paddle around in the lazy river. Gio remembered my sisters from last time they visited the resort, which amazed me-- and Adam-- I'm not sure what Adam's job title is, but his role seems to be everything to do with managing the outdoor activities, and he's incredible-- he notices everything, makes sure everything runs smoothly, and ensures a good time for all. When parents weren't watching their kids who were jumping into the shallow part of the pool, he stepped in and corrected their behavior, in just the right tone. I was very grateful for that. Furthermore, he always inquired about our stay, and whether or not we were having a good time. After the pool, we went up to our rooms to freshen up, and then down to Ocean2000 restaurant for dinner. The menu is fabulous, I ate a different fish dish each and every night. My sisters got steak, and they raved about it. All of our servers were wonderful, but Matthew really did a stand out job making us feel special, and even brought out a birthday card signed by the kitchen staff for my sister, along with a good size slice of carrot cake, dressed with a single candle. After dinner, we enjoyed the breeze, rocked in the rocking chairs on the back porch, and when we grew tired, up to bed we went. Each day pretty much went the same, and it was so very relaxing. On our last day, we did go back for that second massage. Natalia at the front desk helped arrange everything, and I had a different therapist, Susan, who was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend bookending your vacation with visits to the spa, it sets the right tone in the beginning, and puts you in a state of zen instead of a rushed frenzy upon departure. I can't stress enough how kind everyone is here-- it's a big part of what made the stay so pleasant. Some things to note, it is very windy! I though I would be hot, but at night I was actually chilly! Definitely bring a light sweater. Also, at the time we were there, there was quite a bit of seaweed-- I might have swam further into the ocean if it wasn't so bad-- so keep the time of year in mind for seaweed season. Some notes for the hotel: 1. Could use an adults only pool somewhere on the property. 2. This property is just begging for hammocks! 3. A faulty hinge on our hotel room door prevented it from self-closing, which is a security issue, especially for 3 ladies traveling-- please be attentive that staff closes the doors after leaving the rooms, and try to make sure the hinges are in good working order. Other than that, it was absolutely perfection. We are already planning our next trip!! And I’m planning on bringing my husband next time, it would definitely be a romantic getaway for couples for sure !

A great hotel
Pros:

The hotel exceeded our expectations with regards to staff, location , facilities and overall quality. Our only disappointment was the restaurant which is over priced and the food quality isn’t on par with the quality of the hotel. An area for the hotel to focus on. However, I would recommend this hotel as a terrific place to stay at a reasonable cost.

Cons:

The restaurant.
