Breakfast and staff were good
Toilet was very difficult to flush (room 220).
Noise from beer gardens beneath.
Car park not marked and extremely difficult to find. (Incorrect map given to me by reception).
Lovely staff
Rooms and decor are very tired
Location
Some general decor looking tired
Location good for main tourist attractions, buses, station, shops and river.
Interesting to stay in such an historic building.
Room was spacious with attractive old beams dividing sleeping area from seating area.
Breakfast had good range of food, gluten free bread available on request
Visited during heatwave, no air conditioning or fans in public areas, hotel only had a limited number of fans for bedrooms, none available for us. Definite disadvantage as our room faced the sun so was stifling despite windows open and curtains drawn.
In the bathroom the toilet was right next to the end of the bath, making it quite difficult to get in and out of the bath/shower, needed to fold shower screen right back. It would have been helpful, especially for older people, to have a handrail on wall above the bath and near the shower. The 2 pin plug socket for razors/toothbrush chargers was placed so high up on the wall that it wasn’t possible for us to reach it.
Great location in town centre, quirky historical building
Parking wasn’t on site
Location and staff
Price of room and bathroom shower
Location and friendly service
The rooms were a little bit dated but the shower and bathroom were more recently renovated
Central location and 7mins walk from the train station and less to the shops
Very hot but more down to the weather
It’s a fantastic historical /hotel we stayed in Prince
Rupert suite and you could feel the history!
Situated in the historic part of Shrewsbury
Breakfast wasn’t the best
We were very pleased with all aspects of the room including the bathroom. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice and quality was great. We also loved the quirky historic character of the building. Overall we were very happy with the entire experience.
The only very minor issue related to the sash window, which wouldn't stay open on its own. Both nights were hot so we had to keep the window propped open with a candlestick!!
The room was spacious and the breakfast was excellent
Everything about the stay was great so no issues at all, even the weather was great!
The breakfast was spot on,the lady that served us was polite and is a credit to the hotel
The reception staff were also very helpful, explaining exactly where we can park our car , overnight for a discount.
The only thing that let it down was having to hand in your key each time we went out
Staff were excellent, location perfect, breakfast was very tasty and well served.
Appreciate that it is an old hotel but it could do with a deep clean and a redec
Very central location close to bars, shops and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Bathroom was good with large fluffy towels.
Bedroom was very small with dated furniture and decor. Some issues with cleanliness, marked walls, skirting boards and multiple cobwebs.
The location was very good not too far from the train station, quiet enough location. Nice and comfortable lounge.Breakfast was very nice and well presented. Staff were efficient and helpful. The room we had was comfortable, roomy and very clean. Although, due to its position of the bedroom being In the eaves maybe the provision of a fan would be a good idea especially when the weather can get very warm as it was last week. All in all a very pleasant stay.
