Average property
Good
Room was great - very comfortable, clean, well equipped with small desk & chairs, bathroom although very small met our needs and great to have a shower instead of shower-over-bath. Check in staff were very helpful and welcoming, The grounds are absolutely beautiful.
Alexanders pub was ok, menu slightly disappointing. Breakfast was disappointing - we were there about half way through the breakfast serving, but some items had run out (some of the cereals, fruit), but during the time we were there no one came to replace them. There was also a lack of staff overall, and no one came to offer us more tea or coffee. My husband did enjoy his full english breakfast.
The cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff
Nothing
Newly renovated
Staff weren’t so friendly
Dinner was exceptional. Breakfast was tasty. Bed was very comfortable. We liked the atmosphere of the hotel.
Our room was a fair walk from the hotel core facilities with no view. Reception and welcome could have been better. Waited nearly 5 minutes for the receptionist to finish a phone call. No apology for the wait. Had to prompt for directions to the room after check in.
Location, Staff
I stayed here for one night whilst visiting a friend. Although I found the hotel to be a bit dated in its style, it was immaculately clean. The rooms were basic but good, again immaculate, the bed was extremely comfortable with good standard bedding and pillows. The breakfast selection was basic but sufficient. The reception staff were very friendly.
Rather dated in style and colours, the breakfast could have had more healthy options ie. more fruit and yogurt choice. The coffee wasn't very good.
The surrounding gardens are very pretty - enjoyed having a walk around them. The hotel is nice and clean.
The food and drinks are quite pricey
Good restaurant
Having to pay ab extra £10 ro park the car which felt very petty.
brakfast
dinner
breakfast was great
signs to the at the rear of the property are not clear as tp which way to get to our room
Food was good, as were drinks although pricey.
After finally gettin to our room which was quite the way from reception, up flights of stairs and along very long corridors then up more stairs, had an issue with the toilet not flushing then my partner getting something in his eye from altering the pressure of shower head which then burned uncontrollably and totally swelled up bright red for the next few hours. Staff offered eye wash and an accident form but showed no form of concern. Moved rooms but didnt feel any care was given and made to feel like an inconvenience if anything. Breakfast staff no better. Wont be returning due to this, meant to be 4* facilities say otherwise.
Nice grounds and location. Food good but expensive. Staff were excellent.
Very disappointed with our room which had a window looking at a bank of ferns which made it very dark. We complained and we were moved to a room with a better outlook. Couldn’t use the pool as already booked at the time we wanted to swim. Also didn’t realise quite how large the hotel was. Walk from car park to reception quite steep. If we had realised we would have driven up to entrance and unloaded there.
Great rooms, clean bathroom with good water pressure in shower. Friendly and welcoming staff across reception, restaurant and domestic staff.
No Cranberry juice on offer at breakfast.
