Beautiful old world charm boutique hotel

A beautiful boutique property only 5 minute walk to Portobello Road, approx 10 minute walk to Nottinghill Gate tube station.
Gorgeous decor and old world feel, daily continental breakfast. The best bit was the lovely, cheerful and kind staff.

Too many small issues
Pros:

I was there at the beginning of the heat wave- just to caveat this review.

No ac or ventilation in public areas- so while library area is nice not useful when it’s +30 celcius +90 Fahrenheit.

Room AC does not work consistently in all rooms so you could be unlucky enough to have the weak ac room. A colleagues room had water flow in over night- hotel fixed it but a musty smell remained.

Bath tub and shower do not drain so you end up showering in a puddle- a little on the gross side! All in all place may be nice but lacks luxury and the real boutique feel- even without the heat and ac issues not really a place I can recommend or that I would return to.

Staff was nice and helpful-

Location great but needs to improve on customer experience
Pros:

The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful.
Location great for the market and lots of restaurants near by.

Cons:

Breakfast was very poor quality and disorganised. Always something missing. Individual milk jugs needed instead of a shared bottle.
We had a night without plugs in the room working and could not report as the phone was not answered. Sorted in the morning.
The two armchairs in the dining room need cleaning.

A lovely period boutique hotel in an excellent location
Pros:

This was my second time at the Portobello and I hope it will not be the last. It is a real treat, with a delightful atmosphere and excellent staff. I had a good room on the ground floor, and next time I would probably go one level up, as the shower room was small, and there was a little noise from the road. But I slept very well, and generally was extremely happy

A Worthy Splurge in Notting Hill
Pros:

I'm so glad I stayed here! I loved the quirky and delightful design of the room, the luxurious towels, sheets, pillows, and bed, the lovely breakfast lounge, and the fabulous location. The staff were warm and helpful, there were excellent snacks and drinks on hand when needed, and it was easy to walk to the Portobello Market, the Underground, and all sorts of fun shops, restaurants, and cafes nearby. The overall aesthetic and vibe was exactly what I wanted for a splurge in Notting Hill.

Quaint boutique hotel, perfect location
Pros:

The staff, the location and the atmosphere are the best!
Everyone is very helpful and accommodating, the location is a stone throw from Portobello Road, but the street itself is very quiet (residential).

Cons:

The good room is small. Important to realize this when you book. It is absolutely sufficient, however very small. The pictures online give a fair representation of the size.

Personable and quiet boutique hotel
Pros:

I tend to prefer quiet, small hotels when I travel solo and the Portobello was exactly what I needed for a short stay in London. I booked a Good Room and assumed from past London hotel experience it would be tiny, but it actually felt quite spacious for a solo traveler and the decor was really thoughtful and lovely. My only note is that despite the room itself feeling spacious, the bathroom was very tiny. I’m 5’7” and anyone closer to 6’ might have a hard time maneuvering in it.

I also wanted to shout out the duty manager Diana, who was a huge help when I realized I left my passport and jewelry roll in my room safe. I was already in my next city but she held them for a friend of mine to pick up later that day. I might not have had the same luck/care from a bigger hotel chain so I really appreciated it!

The location is close to the main stretch of Portobello Road but tucked onto a quieter residential street which was perfect for me. Very walkable but still tranquil.
