Calm Belém charm and a comfortable hotel perfectly placed for exploring Lisbon’s historic riverside
Pros:

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Jerónimos 8. Belém is a lovely part of Lisbon - full of history, wide open spaces and some of the city’s most iconic sights - but it’s also a little way out of the main city centre, which gives it a calmer, more relaxed feel. It was the perfect base for exploring the area without being right in the bustle.

One of the unexpected highlights was breakfast each morning, when we were given incredible pastéis de nata from the Pastéis de Belém. Pastéis de nata are small, flaky custard tarts with a caramelised top and a warm, creamy centre - simple, perfect, and one of Portugal’s most beloved treats. They originate in Belém, where monks at the Jerónimos Monastery first created them in the early 19th century, and the recipe was later passed to the bakery that became Pastéis de Belém, the only place still making them according to that original secret formula.

Belém itself is wonderful to explore: the Jerónimos Monastery, the riverside walk, the Discoveries Monument and the Tower of Belém all within easy reach. It’s a part of Lisbon that feels grand and spacious, with a slightly slower pace. We would really recommend the Modern Art Museum too!

The hotel was comfortable, easy, and friendly - a great spot if you want to enjoy Belém properly while still being able to reach the rest of Lisbon when you want to.

Pros:

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff was warm, welcoming, and always willing to help. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and restaurants.
