Cleanliness
8.6
Pool had many insects and pool maintenance was described as imperfect; otherwise no major cleanliness complaints in rooms.
Service
10
Generally praised as cordial and outstanding (bar and restaurant table service highlighted); some mentions of staff shortages and a few unprofessional interactions, but overall service described very positively.
Location
10
Repeatedly described as charming and beautiful — the site and setting are strong positives.
Room Quality
8
Notable issues: bathroom extremely hot (thermostat 55 °C), shower water pressure variable, missing mirror for hair drying, no minibar in an expensive suite.
Amenities
9.4
High-quality, elegant facilities but with shortcomings: pool had insects, the pool snack/refreshment corner was closed, and the fitness centre was described as too small.
Value for Money
8.8
High room rates (example given ~€700/night) coupled with the above shortcomings (room/amenity issues) reduce perceived value despite an overall excellent setting and service.
Food and Beverage
9.6
Mixed reports: some meals and bar service were outstanding and cocktails highly praised; other dishes (underdone duck, watery scrambled eggs) and limited menus disappointed certain guests.
Overall Experience
10
Multiple reviewers call the stay very nice or great overall; elegant and comfortable environment and strong service contribute to a highly positive overall impression.

Charmant
Pros:

Overall very nice stay
Pros:

Food was excellent and staff was as well.

Cons:

Fitness Center was marginal and too small for even 3 of us at a time. The shower water pressure was very variable and would stop and then restart very hot.

Excellent facility & service, food not so good.
Cons:

We had dinner at Le Seran on our first night. Menu was very limited & there was nothing my wife (who admittedly has a limited pallet) liked. I had the duck which was inedible. It was underdone and terribly seasoned. My guess is it was salted at least twice maybe 3 times by different staff involved in prep and plating steps. We had dinner in the bistro on our second night. It was very good but we ordered sandwiches which were simple to prepare. Breakfast buffet was hit or miss. Selection was excellent but scrambled eggs were swimming in water i.e. inedible. Bar service & product were outstanding. Restaurant table service was also outstanding. All in all the dining environments and service were outstanding but the food missed the mark. Overall this was a great experience but if I had it to do over I'd have dinner in Bayeux or Caen.

Impeccable stay at this gorgeous chateau
Pros:

This was our second stay at Chateau d’Audrieu and we will definitely be back. We were visiting with our teenage sons and had an incredible experience as a family. The breakfasts at Le Seran and dinner at 1715 were phenomenal. We were so well taken care of. The grounds are pristine and calming and the chateau is in a great location for exploring the area. The perfect retreat!

Amazing staff. Great room.
Pros:

Our room was very big. We had our private entrance. The bathroom was huge and had a bathtub in the center and the towels were warm… all extremely well thought. A letter of reception, mini present, all in our expectations. Real luxury.

Not Deserving of Relais & Chateau Designation
Pros:

The location is good - only a 15-20 minute drive to Bayeau. We stayed in a 1st floor suite. The room needed a total remodel, other than the bathroom which was updated. The shower water pulsed hot and cold and the pressure would go up and down. This hotel is rather remote and after touring all day it would have been nice to sit in a comfy area and relax; in fact, this is a necessity due to the remoteness. Our room did not have a sofa and the two chairs in the room were not made for comfort. The chateau has only one small community 'living room' in need of remodel, and it is cold and the furniture uncomfortable. Also, it is in a rather small area that people walk through to get to their rooms or the restaurant, so not an area where you would want to relax. The bar was lovely but never saw an attendant in the four nights we were there. We were surprised that considering the colder fall weather that not one fireplace was ablaze. The staff were made to dress in colonial type attire that was not appropriate for an upscale establishment. We ate at both restaurants, and the food and service were very good; though breakfast was a little sad. You won't find fresh homemade pastries or a nice buffet spread here. The concierge service was friendly and helpful, but other than that, we felt we just had place to sleep. The concierge booked us for 2 days Normandy touring with Franck and he was incredible! A walking encyclopedia. Thank you Sebastien! Overall, this was not the kind of impression we expected from a Relais & Chateau property. We stayed at La Ferme Saint Simeon in Honfleur right before we came here and it was night and day!!!

Carpets don’t match the curtains
Pros:

The grounds are stunning and the hotel has great proximity to the D Day beaches. However the rooms were a significant disappointment. It is clear that our room (a suite) and the common areas have not been updated in decades. While some may call that quaint, it is simply the result of underinvestment. Honestly our bedroom was the darkest of any hotel room I can remember - we used our phones for illumination to pack before our departure. I’m not sure what photographic tricks were used to portray the property on the website. The bathroom, the only area of our suite to be ‘updated’ had an undersized pedestal sink, no privacy door for the toilet and water that pulsed from scalding to frigid with cycles of the dutiful (and audible) electric heat pump. The furniture was likely 40 years old and shared the style with the otherwise nice bar. The internet was spotty at best.
We had two dinners at the bistro/bar - both very good. They try hard to commit you to dinner in the formal restaurant, but we had previously overindulged so declined.
Conclusion: 5 stars are relative. This hotel would be 3 in Paris. Manage your expectations. And to the hotel: please invest. I can’t imagine it would cost that much to bring the aesthetics current to match the lovely exterior setting.
