breakfast was excellent, really tasty and great
Wish location was a bit nearer the VRA
The attention to detail by the hotel manager was outstanding - had to leave the hotel at 5:30 and he offered to have breakfast prepared before the departure. I requested just a coffee and it was ready and waiting for me at 5:30
Location
Nothing
Breakfast was excellent. Room was lovely, and the location at Sea Point was beautiful.
I was there for the Cape Town marathon, and even though the website said there would be a special pre race menu for runners, there wasn't. At the last minute I had to pivot and try to find a nearby restaurant. The front desk recommended a place but wouldn't make a reservation for me (stating they didn't take reservations and I'd have no problem getting in) This was NOT the case the night before the marathon with everyone wanting a pasta dinner!
Beautiful design and staff
The fact that they didn’t mention there was a marathon in lol
The rooms were well decorated and appointed. I loved the mural behind the bed which gave it a touch of fun. The room seemed small but was actually quite spacious and enough for two people. The tea and coffee service was lovely with little biscotti on the side. I also enjoyed the room service, the quant pool and the beautiful restaurant. Breakfast was absolutely marvelous with anything you could want, delicious fresh fruits, pastries, meats and cooked warm meals. The dinner was absolutely fantastic! In fact it was some of the best food and service I had in Cape Town. If you are just looking for a snack their biltong is to die for. I enjoyed some at the pool with a couple of cocktails - perfect! I didn't get to use the spa, but the spa also looked amazing. The location was very appealing to us and we enjoyed some walks along the water every morning.
I didn't care for the terrible pillows. They were so hard and hurt my neck. Both my friend and I struggled immensely with the pillows.
I also didn't like the weird cupboard space. There's a tiny tiny closet in the hall. So if you are staying more than a couple of nights that would be problematic. I also didn't like the noise in the evenings. It traveled up the building, so you could only get to sleep by 11 pm. I'm not sure if it's noisy all nights or just on the weekends. In the morning people go down early for breakfast in the courtyard and once again the noise travels up and it's very loud.
All in all it's a good little stay but the pillows and noise made it difficult to get good sleep. I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers or people looking for a restful and quiet hotel.

My stay at The Winchester Hotel was absolutely wonderful. The hotel’s aesthetic is stunning, with a beautifully curated and luxurious atmosphere throughout. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean at all times. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, with Beverly going above and beyond to make our stay special. The location is also perfect, with easy access to the promenade and nearby attractions.
