The Lady at the restaurant was very friendly

Cons:

I‘m travelling most of the time of the year and this was one of the most dirty
rooms I ever had. There was still some rubbish an clothing from the previous guest under my bed.

The location was good with very pleasant walks into both Southend and Westcliff.

Cons:

I unfortunately mislaid my car keys.When I asked at reception I was told they were not there. After a lot of searching including calling out a breakdown service the keys were found in the safe at reception. The team needs to communicate more!

What could have been a beautiful hotel ruined by lack of maintenance.

Proximity to the Cliffs Pavilion

The hotel could have been exceptional and probably once was but it looked like it had not been maintained at all in recent years and everything was worn, grubby and shoddy.

I had what was sold as a suite and whilst it had a separate sitting area the furniture looked like it had been purchased from a charity shop, the paint was peeling off the walls in places, both terraces were filthy with either peeling or mismatched paint and there was a horrible blocked drain smell in the bathroom, which probably accounted for the shower tray filling up instantly amd water pouring over the side rather than draining so I had to abort the shower for fear of flooding the room below..

When I arrived there were contractors drinking outside who told me they bought their own drinks back to the hotel because the bar was too expensive and when I paid £13.50 for one double rum and coke I realised they were right and took my custom elsewhere.

The Hamlet suite
Pros:

The location is fantastic. The room 'The Hamlet" was lovely with beautiful views and jaccuzi bath or shower. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was buffet style and nice.

Cons:

I know it's hard but windows needed cleaning, my only negative.
