The breakfast was OK - nicely cooked. The location is visually attractive. The dining areas, conservatory and lake are attractive.
It’s on the Leeds-Bradford airport flight path, so the noise from that started early in the morning. The log cabin theme is oppressive and not helped by very dim room lighting. Carpets are worn through in places and my room smelled musty.
Nice location
Tired, needs an update
Beautiful location very handy for airport.
Very run down. Not thoroughly cleaned poor water pressure nearly no. Existent in shower. No jacuzzi swimming pool dirty . Most concerning emergency button by pool broken.
Nice grounds, pool and spa area ok, though it was a bit cold for outside hot tubs. Dog friendly policy is good, accommodation adequate
Food in hotel was a bit mediocre, our evening meal was overcooked. Breakfast OK but nothing special.
Bed was not comfortable, and cabin was quite cold
Reception staff very welcoming. Comfortable bed.
The room was clean.
Lovely location.
Easy check in and check out.
Despite being told to dial '0' for Reception, there was no phone in the room.
There was only one pillow per person. As we were some distance from Reception and it was chucking down, we put towels under the pillow to help, but more pillows would have made the night more comfortable.
There was a warning for us to check who may be knocking at the cabin, which was an acknowledgement that people could be wandering around outside in such a rural location, so we were surprised that a see through rattan blind had been installed in the bathroom. In the evening, with the lights on, this offered no privacy and made me, as a woman, feel unsafe and uncomfortable when using the bathroom.
The exterior of the cabin was absolutely filthy and had obviously not been swept or cleaned in a very long time.
These matters could easily be put right, which would have led to a very enjoyable stay in a lovely location. Would probably stay in the hotel rather than a cabin if we came again.
Great location. Wonderful spa restaurant and grounds
Nothing
My wife and 9 year old daughter booked a night's stay. Woken at midnight by a party next door - despite my wife contacting reception, the noise continued until after 2am. Woken again at 4am by drunk man trying to enter their room. Hotel offered 50% refund but have only actually repaid a third of the cost of the stay. I have tried contacting them multiple times by phone and email to express my concerns and they continue to ignore me.
The hotel appear unconcerned about the safeguarding of their guests. When asked if they had CCTV to check who was trying to enter the room, they responded 'we do not have and have never had CCTV and cannot investigate further'.
This is the first negative review I have ever submitted but I am so appalled by their lack of response, I think it is right to share our experience.
Great location communal areas lovely in the main
Our lodge was dreadful dirty dusty stained carpets broken and tatty furniture old tired and desperately needs refurbishment
Lovely staff especially Patrick in the spa/ gym who went above and beyond finding me a hairbrush to borrow as I’d forgotten mine 😁👏👏
Food could have been better. Fish and chips overcooked and the plated breakfast tasted like it had sat out on a buffet too long. Cold bacon, hard inedible black pudding and crispy curled fried egg!!
Home from home lovely and spacious
Liked it all
Great venue very quiet and comfortable
Helpful staff and charming restaurant.
Menu was a little basic but the food was good value and excellent.
The property was lovely and peaceful, could have done with a lick of paint and there were a couple of cigarette stubs on outside seating area but that might have been because of the wind. But was so comfortable and cosy, so great to unwind after a hectic few days - dogs loved it in the lodge! Restaurant was fantastic and staff so helpful, really good breakfast range and young man serving us was exceptionally helpful and attentive- thank you!
Nothing
The layout
The food in the restaurant was not great
I booked it for my son , he didn’t really get a chance to enjoy It . They arrived very late , following a late flight .
The room was very tatty ( rust all over the bathroom , where paint had peeled off & it hadn’t been re-touched .
The cot we had asked for was just a base - no mattress , so our toddler was very unsettled even though she was tired .
Very serene, beautifully situated
N/A
everything
nothing
The food was very good - both the evening meal and breakfast.
The grounds and location were lovely.
The pool and spa had everything we needed.
Many of the showers did not work in the spa area.
The toilet in the room bathroom needed de-scaling.
The pillows were very hard.
We were on a late sitting for breakfast, and many buffet items and drinks had run out.
