A convenient position but disappointing accomodation standard
Pros:

The position was very handy

Cons:

The room was not as described.
It was small, very dark, had a double bed not a queen as was advertised.
Very inconvenient placement of bathroom door and had to use the floor to put the jug on to boil.
The breakfast was limited- pre-made food eg sandwich, egg and bacon roll etc to the value of $10

Great location and nice staff, but a very basic and tired hotel with musty or damp smelling rooms.
Pros:

Great location. Staff very polite and helpful.

Cons:

There was a damp problem in our room. A significant smell of damp / mildew and it was very dark and all fixtures and fitting and carpet was very tired. After one night we requested a move to another room. The staff on the desk weee very nice and obliging and the second room was better, but still a bit musty.

Very expensive for what we got.
Pros:

Proximity to where our function was being held.

Cons:

Room was extremely musty smelling and stale air. No air con - small heater only just adequate. When turned fan on water sprayed from top of it onto the bed (room 11). We got parked in by another car (they were in spot 12-11) so we could not drive our car out. We had to then get an Uber both ways to our function. No advice earlier that smaller cars should be recommended.

Paying the $$ for convenience of location
Pros:

Great location, walking distance to the SCG. We arrived after the reception desk was closed and were given excellent instructions on how to securely access the property. Inclusion of breakfast with the booking was most welcome and the outside cafe felt very cosmopolitan. Room was clean, tidy and comfortable.

Cons:

The building and rooms are clearly showing their age. Carpet in hallways looked as though it could do with replacing. Chipped enamel in the bath, and tricky tap-wear at the basin were a little off-putting.

Cons:

I had an enjoyable stay here overall and initially thought the hotel was in a great location and offered good value for money. However, one incident completely changed how I felt about the experience.

While staying in my private room, I was in my private bathroom when a member of the cleaning staff opened the bathroom door onto me unexpectedly. I had just flushed the toilet and was washing my hands at the sink. I was shocked and immediately asked him to leave. Instead of leaving straight away, he remained standing there clearly waiting to access the bathroom, and I had to ask a second time before he eventually walked out.

If he had entered only seconds earlier, he would have walked in on me actually using the toilet. As a solo female traveller, this was extremely uncomfortable and honestly quite frightening. After he finally left, he also left my bedroom door wide open, which added even further to my discomfort and anxiety.

The following day I reported the incident to reception before leaving. The staff member did apologise on behalf of the cleaner, however the response felt dismissive, and un-emotional. There was no reassurance that the issue would be addressed, no acknowledgement of how inappropriate the situation was, and no effort made to reassure me that guest privacy and safety are taken seriously. It took a lot for me to actually say something.... and now I wish I didn't even try.

It’s disappointing because aside from this incident, I had enjoyed my stay. But experiences like this completely affect how safe you feel, and safety and privacy should be a priority at any accommodation — especially for women travelling alone.

I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and ensures better respect for guest privacy and clearer procedures for staff entering occupied rooms in the future.

Good location but basic room
Pros:

The room we had was ok but a little damp. Location great. Lots of character. We reserved parking and paid but was full when we arrived. Staff said park on st, but time limits and pouring rain made it stressful.

Pros:

Great location, in a quiet area, but close / easy to get to entertainment, restaurants, pubs etc. Beautiful and charming historic building. We only stayed one night, in a small but comfortable room with ensuite. Receptionist / staff welcoming, knowledgeable and very friendly. Would stay again, if more than one night I would get a bigger room next time. Overall highly recommend 🤗

Cons:

Bathroom could definitely be cleaned / cleaner (shower grout and tiles) .. Our room did have an unpleasant musty smell, opening the window helped.. Waking up to housekeeping knocking and unlocking door to get in was surprising / not ideal.. Other than those couple things, everything was good 🤗
