Excellent beds. Great location. Responsive staff
I had a real kerfluffle in my first room. Garbage trucks outside my window at 5 am and a few things not working. The staff acted immediately and upgraded me to a bigger room on higher floor. I really appreciated their responsiveness.
When we arrived they didn't have my booking... I had to pay for the stay AGAIN, and I want you to make it right ... Refund the $ I paid booking.com... make this right please and thank you

This is an older hotel but it is well tended to and cared for.
Our room was so tiny that we were thankful we were only there for one night because there was barely enough room for us and our luggage. BUT, this was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in and you can tell the pride and care that the housekeeping team has in spades. While looking for the remote, I looked under the bed, usually that is an appalling site to be avoided in hotels, IT WAS SPOTLESS ! LOL, I cannot tell you how impressed I was LOL!!!
The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was a pleasure. We both slept very well and by the time we left, we loved our little room.
We also had the pleasure of dealing with Gina (who brought us a remote) She was helpful, friendly and made us feel that she was sincerely happy that we were there. Also a rarity in most hotels.
The hotel's location is perfect for this very walkable city. We would definitely stay again.
The corner room on the 5th floor with two windows.
We only spent one night here. This historic high rise hotel was built in 1925, and the history is definitely one of its major attributes. It's located within walking distance of every attraction in downtown Ashland, including the Shakespeare theater. Even though it has 9 stories, it feels like more of a boutique hotel, and was very quiet.
We had a view king room (top floor), with a great view of the downtown area and surrounding hills. The fairly large room had a nice, comfortable bed and large flat screen, but interestingly no desk. As is common for historic hotels, the bathroom was small (including a very small shower). Furnishings showed some age, but once again common for an older hotel. A perk is that parking is free, in a lot right behind the hotel. One of Ashland's top-rated restaurants (Larks) is in the hotel, but we didn't try it.
Two minor issues. There is a $5 charge for breakfast---why not just offer free breakfast, and adjust the room rate. A bit weird. And unfortunately the buffet breakfast was not very good---just similar to a Hampton Inn or other chain hotel. The other issue is a pet peeve of mine----they charge a $15 facility fee which was not disclosed in the reservation. Perhaps this makes up for the free parking, Definitely not a big deal, just a matter of principle. Overall, we enjoyed the history, and the room was fine (especially the view). However, they need to improve the breakfast situation.
Corner room view on 6th floor was wonderful! Bed comfortable. Hotel breakfast was good value at $5 each. Discounted room rate much appreciated!
Very small room
So much history
We stayed here for the Shakespeare Festival and it was the perfect location, only two blocks from our theater. The room was perfect for our needs and quiet. The breakfast in the morning was really good, and there were also lots of different restaurants close by. Parking was easy, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again.
Charming art deco hotel. Perfect location. Clean and serene.
Some staff were a little less than friendly but most were lovely. Some updates could be made to bathrooms and flooring but overall it was good.
Location
Everything! Location, great room and amenities including free parking and good breakfast.
Not a thing!
Very comfortable and clean and charming. 2 short blocks away an easy walk to the Oregon Shakespeare festival with fun stores all around. It's a perfect place to stay for a day or 3 to see the shows and not have to constantly be driving. The park is also three blocks away, beautiful and relaxing.
The cook was out sick, so the morning breakfast did not really happen but that was a minor concern, because the staff could direct us to a nice restaurant down the road that served a fine breakfast.
