We stayed on Honululu overnight to catch a connecting flight & chose to stay at Aqua. It provided exactly what we needed...a comfortable, quiet place to stay. The extra bonus of having a coffee on the small balcony in the morning was a definite perk.
I stayed for 8 nights during mid March. I have been staying at the hotel twice a year for the last ten years. It’s a mid level facility at low end price. It’s comfortable and has no pretension about it. Yeah this recent stay included issues with one of the two lifts being broken. But what isn’t broken is its normal and hospitable staff. They are great 710 was my room this time. Issue with the internet was investigated and sorted by a super staff member. A shout out to Jade She is the face of a place that all of these hotels need. She was assisted on the ground with an equally enthusiastic man called Ricky, who efficiently ushered the technician in and out of the room. So great staff Jade and Ricky thanks. The place is neat and clean. But be prepared for room makeup only every three days Nice little pool. Plenty of ice in the dual ice machines located on the ground floor lobby. This is next to a new age vending machine. DO Not use this machine. It’s like an open refrigerator door that charges you after you open the door and remove products. I was charged ten dollars for two small packets of potato crisps. Near by the pool is a sensational barbecue. Great to throw a few hot dogs and burgers on to take to the room. Plenty of beach towels on hand. Stay here it’s good. Look for friendly and efficient Jade at check in.
We experienced a very comfortable stay with a spacious and clean room that had a small fridge and a coffee pot plus a couch. Being able to brew ourselves coffee each morning was a huge treat for us. We utilized the balcony to dry off wet bathing suits and water shoes which was very convenient.
The lobby was nice and on our last evening we ate our dinner in the lobby and played games with our son whom we were visiting. I filled my water bottle each day with ice and water from the dispensers available in the lobby. We also enjoyed being able to read the daily newspaper. We didn't use the pool but it was nice to have it available.
The staff was great and displayed Aloha each day. The hotel is wonderfully located in Waikiki. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. We reserved our stay using an offer of staying 3 nights and getting the 4th night free. We stayed a total of 8 nights and the hotel allowed us to reserve back to back reservations using this offer.
This hotel had a lot of problems. Very very noise inside, in the lobby, and outside due to very high street noise. Our room was small, with the softest most uncomfortable bed possible. Window cranks and curtains did work well- a good breeze was needed instead of the useless air conditioner.
There were no chairs in this room and we had to make a special request to get one. And when you want to get a beach towel, don't forget your special card- otherwise it will cost you $30~ wow! TV and wi-fi coverage was a joke.
This was a big hotel, needing two elevators for the population. Unfortunately one did not work the whole time we were there.
This is an expensive hotel due to the service fee which covers a lot of "convenience features". Not really. Save your money and try a different place.
My 3rd time and it was perfect as always, I highly recommend this place. Room is clean and comfortable and the bed soft, bathroom was clean as well
I love everything about the hotel & we coming back again. The room was too perfect and close to the beach & stores. Workers were too kind and always there when needed for service. I recommended this hotel to everyone.
Fantastic staff to keep this dump running despite the owners neglecting it for decades. Changed rooms, but still in a slum lord condition. It is CLEAN and one of the cheapest in Waikiki, but if you can, stay elsewhere. Resort fee steep and unearned. Sad, because 20 years ago we loved this place. I believe furniture is the same from those days still. 🤐
A good value hotel with a great location centrally located in Waikiki. I would stay here again in the future, and opt for a superior balcony room.
This is the second time we stayed at this hotel as the first time was about 15 years ago. While the location and customer service remains favorable, sadly the condition of the hotel remains the sad. It desperately needs an upgrade which I hope will happen soon. I’m not sure I will stay here again the next time I visit Waikīkī Beach.
Bathroom door office hinges. Toilet was pre-clogged. Website said all included in the price then they wanted another 40 bucks for "resort fee". Their idea of a resort is lending you a towel.
Bed wasn’t very comfortable but the room was clean. Elevator was broken but the stairs were fine for us (just one night). The Hawaiian tropic toiletries were the best part
Good location, noisy area, but it served it's purpose. Room is fairly small, reminded me of hotels in Japan, but it was clean and met expectations. Resort fee of $80/night were not included in the price when we booked, so keep that in mind. Overall though, the price per night with the addition of the resort fees was decent.
I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were exceptional and the place is clean and located 5 minutes from the beach. The hotel provides beach chairs, beach towels and clean cold water to drink. The hotel was also kind enough to store our suitcases as we had a late flight out and we were lucky to be able to enjoy our last day.
The only two things I would say weren’t the best was our bed wasn’t the most comfortable as it felt a bit floppy or over used. And parking is expensive, but that’s all of wikiki which kind of such as I would have liked to rent a longer than just two days as we were there for two weeks.
A shout out to Jade, one of the staff who was incredible to us and made us feel so welcomed at the hotel.
We came across this small little boutique hotel when planning a vacation with our local airline.
It ticked off all the boxes when looking at dated hotels. I’m sure this hotel was built in the 60’s, but it has been very well managed and maintained over the years. By no means it is the Hilton, but if your on a fixed income budget, it will meet all of your needs.
The room had all your regular features that the high priced hotels have. Our room had a brand new quiet air conditioner in it, which made it so comfortable.
Pros:
Balcony with 2 nice chairs
Free chairs for the beach
Towels for the beach
Filtered water machine in the lobby
Coffee maker and great tasting coffee in the room.
Lively bar in the lobby
New air conditioner
Cold fridge
Fast single elevator
Close to shopping
Cons:
Suite needs a new bed
One elevator down for maintenance
No ocean view
Third time we have stayed here (in the same room!!) This time, however, one of the 2 elevators was down. We were on the 5th floor so going down the stairs was OK but going up...I feel sorry for the folks who live here. Also the sofa in our deluxe room was missing, just a table, so we had to ask for chairs. We will stay here again because the location, price, and employees are great!
My family needed a place to stay while I had surgery on Oahu. We booked our stay at the Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki. We enjoyed our stay as everything was close by and for us handicap parking was near. The only drawback was that there was only one elevator working due to fixing it. Otherwise, staff was friendly and professional and assisted when needed.
Upon arrival, Jade was very helpful, sincere and communicative with all my questions regarding hotel accommodations and billing. The entire staff were great and extremely helpful.
The good is that the room itself was very comfortable for two people.
The bed however was slightly uncomfortable in that all the pillows were like hard bricks. We went to Costco to buy two pillows and that made all the difference. The mattress had a dip in the center that made sleeping slightly uncomfortable.
Placing of the mini fridge in an enclosed cabinet makes it inefficient. Upon opening the cabinet door, you can feel the heat escaping & the fridge interior was not cooling. During our stay, we left the cabinet door open and the fridge’s interior became very cold to the point of freezing. Recommend removing cabinet doors or providing proper ventilation.
You had to play with the toilet flushing handle to get it to work.
Even with the window shades closed, the A/C cooling on high was a struggle during the day due to the suns outside heat load.
The rooms carpeting is in great need of deep cleaning.
Unfortunately, the location of our room on the street side was quite noisy. The high volume of traffic was most notable when fire trucks passed the hotel daily throughout the day and night with all the honking and sirens going off.
Had been looking forward to using the pool however it was too cold.
Only one of two elevators were working during our 6 days stay making wait times a bit longer.
Good reasonable hotel, friendly, pity one lift not working Overall good experience Room reasonable clean albeit a little noisy from aircon unit
The overall experience was not horrible, however there is a $37/day non-refundable charge for parking which is not listed until you get there.
Stay away from this place. They are nothing but scammers. We paid for our stay through booking.com, taxes and fees were included in our booking price, however when we got to our hotel after our long treacherous flight we were scammed and robbed of $165 for TAXES AND FEES by this hotel staff. When I mentioned we paid taxes and fees the staff member kept going back and forth and made up some random bs reason as we why they can rob us of more taxes and fees. The manager wasn’t oh so conveniently there. But when I called to speak to manager on the phone instead, he couldn’t do anything about the taxes and fees and demanded we pay them again. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE, unless you want your vacation to be ruined, all the previous reviews about this place are right. I have attached all proof. I don’t mind paying taxes and fees for a hotel but what I DO mind is paying them twice and getting robbed and scammed. Transparency and honesty is key and absolutely crucial in business. I will be reporting this to the proper channels.
