Enjoyed my omelet and English muffin breakfast.
There was nothing I didn't like. I liked the historic feel of the Inn, its character and appreciate its centuries of history and illustrious guests..
Expensive but a bit tired. Carpet in the Glen building was filthy (looking). If I’m paying $450 for one night I expect better
Needs investment
The staff members made us feel very welcome. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Our room was nice and mostly comfortable. The inn was a great place for a bunch of friends to hang out on a rainy day.
There was a strong smokey smell in some parts of the inn. The room at the front corner was very noisy from the traffic outside.
Historical Inn with charming rooms. Very friendly staff. Pool and fitness. Excellent breakfast. Live music in the evening.
Some appliances need to be renovated.
Enjoyed everything about it
I stayed at the Red Lion in for a night to surprise my wife who has always wanted to stay there. She was very excited and when we arrived the front desk was excellent. We had book a suite and were going to a show at tanglewood. It was late when we came home from the show, we went in to use the bathroom and came out with wet socks. I didn’t think much about it due to the rain storms at tanglewood, thought they were just wet from that. The next morning I went into the bathroom and almost fell. The floor had ponded water all over it that was dripping down from the floor above. My wife slipped and almost hurt herself on the bathtub. Here is why they get one star from me. I told all of this to the woman checking me out at the front desk during check out and that I feel it was not acceptable. She agreed and told me the manager was not there but would have her reach out to me. Never heard from anyone. Made a follow up call. No manager available and no call back. Sent an email, no response. Another call, no manager available and no call back. I guess they just don’t care. I am a Marriott lifetime platinum member so I travel a lot. This is hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Best step back into a slower pace time with charm and delight! The room was wonderful and refinished. The smash burgers became a staple for our weekend as they were second to none! Sitting on the porch, in spite of the heat, was glorious! A newly added service station for beverages and snacks on the porch was a welcome addition.
The pool had a "closed today" sign on it for "routine maintenance" on the 3rd of July followed by an accident where the heat was blasted into the pool - over 100 degrees, not refreshing during a heat wave.
My Wife and I have been to the Inn many a time and we love it. Our Middle Daughter is a Teacher in NC and a big Art fan. I have always wanted to take her to the Norman Rockwell Museum and we got to do it in June. The running joke has always been that the RLI was haunted and she would never go but we got up there on the 16 for a few days and she loved it. We lucked out with the weather and while it was a short quick trip she had a ball and now has an understanding of why I love it up there so much.
As for our stay at the Inn it was wonderful. I grew up in older homes and love the history and style of the Inn. We were in a King suite and were more than comfortable. We had Dinner at the Inn our first night in the Tavern and Breakfast in the Dining room the next morning. The food and service was impeccable our servers were top and I apologies for not having their names ., I have to say I do miss the Roast Beef Diner and popover that was such a great staple at the Inn's dining room. If I could add you really need to bring back room service . We had been out all day and just wanted to relax in our wonderful room getting food in a bag from the Tavern Bar was a let down.
Bravo to the new hallway on the second floor we spent a good amount of time look at the pictures and reading the signatures that was wonderful. I will leave with this. The Inn is still a great place all I can suggest is new rockers and chairs on the porch. Thanks to all for a great time .
Great location, amazing food. The best restaurant in town.
It is a unique experience.
You need to like historic buildings and sacrifice a little bit comfort.
Because it is a very old building there is a smell and sloping floors.
No access for handicap
We went for our anniversary and had dinner at the Tavern. We had a comfortable, pet-friendly room that was conveniently located and had a door to an outdoor area. The bathroom and room were clean, and the location is wonderful. The atmosphere is also great. The noise level from the street can't be helped, but it was significant on that side of the inn. Loved that they have dog bowls ready for you.
At first, my husband was told by the host that there were no tables for dinner before 7:45 p.m., but when we checked OpenTable, there were, so we were able to get seating at 5 p.m. and had a great meal. The Porch Bar was lovely, too.
We enjoyed our stay and were glad we could visit such a historic location.
The room was dirty and smelled moldy which wasn't surprising given the carpet was wet. This hotel is neglected. I wished i sorted the reviews by hotel rooms which would have showed a large percentage of people are disappointed. But the reviews include gift shop, and bar and restaurant, which buries the very low room rating. If you go and complain they will give you the business crd of the manager Sidney Deluce. It is very possible that there is no Sydney Deluce since she wasn't available for three days even knowing that i was waiting in the lobby to speak with her for half an hour. Probably just a name on a business card the beleaguered front desk can give out to distract the numerous complaining hotel guests. Hey Fitzpatrick Family you can only rely on your past reputation for so long before people are on to you.
Dining waiters/waitresses very nice
Couldn't locate ice and soda vending or not working. Julian from dining was kind and saw that I got a cold drink.
It’s beautiful and in a very good location
Our rooms were not in the old hotel at all but in a property a street away. initially they tried to split my party into two different external buildings on different locations until I objected. If you book a hotel your rooms should be in the hotel unless you have been asked before.
The historic charm of The Red Lion and the location!
Previously stay here many years ago. This was a nostalgic trip for us The Red Lion lived up to our expectations.
We really wanted to like this place… It’s definitely an old wood frame hotel, the kind they don’t make anymore. And it’s in an amazing setting. But, we paid a lot for this room and feel that it and the hotel proper could use an expert’s designed upgrade that would enhance the ambiance of this hotel. Remember, on top of the hotel rate, you pay a nightly, “Preservation Fee.” It’s hard to see where all that money is going… That’s why the four stars…
The Pub, the restaurant, the food, and the all the staff are wonderful and deserve five stars!
Great location. Great amenities. Perfect for traveling with my 90year old mother who didn't have to go off the property for anything, food, entertainment and rocking chairs to watch the World go by. Nice cafes and shops for browsing for me. Room was small-ish but clean and very comfortable. Well kept property
Everything costs too much in my opinion so... :(
