Check in lady was great
The location was convenient, with easy access to I-5, making day-to-day travel relatively quick. There were plenty of restaurants nearby offering a wide range of multi-cuisine fine dining or fast-food options. Several were within walking distance, including Jimmy John's, Domino's Pizza, a Mexican food truck, The Meltdown, Burger King, Denny's, Starbucks and Shari's Cafe. A gas station was conveniently located next door, and downtown was about a 5–10 minute drive depending on traffic.
The hotel had abundant on-site surface parking, and the rooms were reasonably spacious and comfortable. We booked rooms with two double beds, so I can't comment on the single-bed rooms.
The 24-hour pool and gym access was convenient, although the 24-hour pool access also created some issues, as noted below.
The breakfast selection was decent, with fresh eggs, sausage, breads, bagels, waffles, fruit, cereal, orange juice, drip coffee, and oatmeal. There was only one waffle maker, however, so there were often long lines during busy periods.
The hotel was undergoing renovation to become a Fairfield by Marriott, which was not disclosed during booking. The main lobby was closed, with entry through a makeshift side door and a temporary front desk that was not always staffed. We were initially given the wrong room key and had to return to the desk to correct it.
The bathroom had no body wash; we were told they had run out and were only given a bar of soap the following day. The 24-hour pool resulted in consistently wet and slippery lobby/elevator areas, with wet-floor signs throughout.
We stayed three nights in two rooms, but housekeeping cleaned the rooms only once. One room also had a faulty roller blind that barely opened.
Despite the website stating that pets were not allowed, several guests had dogs, including in the breakfast area, which made some of our group uncomfortable. We also noticed some people who appeared to be homeless on the property, including individuals with shopping carts and squatting overnight in their parked vehicles.
The breakfast was decent, but with only one waffle maker, there were long waits during busy periods.
Overall, the renovation, temporary facilities, housekeeping and maintenance issues significantly affected our stay. Although presented as a higher-rated property on Booking.com, I would realistically rate it closer to a 3-star property; its 2-star Google Maps rating felt more consistent with our experience.
Not much!
Hotel was undergoing a major renovation which was never articulated on Booking!
Hotel was poor value as major sections were blocked off and unusable.
Lobby was closed and we were directed to a side entrance with one table, one untrained employee, in front of Janitorial closet.
We had to change rooms as room was unacceptable and other one, bathroom door did not close, fan broken and was a room with just four bare walls. Fridge and microwave located near floor and one had to get on hands and knees to operate, impossible for me as a disabled veteran. Fridge "shut off" after two hours by design and you had to reset. How does that work with a diabetic wife who needs meds stored safely in a secure fridge? Phone system was poor with no instructions and unable to contact front desk. Only cups in room were labeled "Do not microwave" as they were not able to me used for that which made heating drinks impossible. Blind installed in manner which allowed it to be raised only a foot, leaving room dark and not able to see outside.
Breakfast area was shoddy and dirty and quickly put together with folding tables. No drinking water available unless asked for.
Given the extreme renovation hotel should have been closed during this time as it was just unacceptable to rent rooms at $200.00 a night (plus Tax). It felt more like a youth hostel than a premier quality hotel!!
As an update to our tragic night at the hotel, We have enclosed eight pictures of this distruction nightmare. Photos shows major section blocked off with DANGER posted, lobby entrance blocked and we checked in at a smaill talbe arounf the back next to a broom closet, Windows were streaked and filthy with plywood covering one window and screens badly ripped. Building was horribly repainted but does not reflect any of this on their web site.
We were denied a refund for all this pain, so we will gladly never stay at any of their locations again.
Room was excellent
Under renovation . Felt "sealed in.
The remodeled room was clean. The bed was comfortable
The outside of the building, construction stuff, made it look sketchy
Staff was very helpful.
Lots of construction going on.
Staff were professional
Bed bugs in the room
Spacious room. Lots of counter space. Couch. Comfortable bed.
Nothing
Breakfast was great. Could use a second waffle iron. Bed was super comfy. Room was clean, so was hotel except in immediate construction areas.
The one night I wanted to use the jacuzzi it was down for maintenance.
location and service
everything was great
Great location for port and access to I-5. Comfortable bed and clean room. Good breakfast.
We had guests in 1 side of our room acting wild and kept us up until midnight. We needed to call the front desk twice to get them to come up and calm them down.
