A Miserable Experience
Pros:

We stayed 3 nights, arriving Thursday and departing Sunday. Every day there was a new issue to make us miserable. There's a bedside lamp with an outlet to charge a phone, but the outlet only works when the lamp is on. So charging overnight means leaving the lamp on. Stupid. We had a nice big TV in our room and I looked forward to watching World Cup games. But the TV isn't connected to either cable or an antenna, so what we got was static. I went down the street to a sports bar. Stupid. I would have gone to the bar at the hotel except it doesn't open until 3:00 pm, and the 2 games I wanted to watch were at noon and 2:00. So no screen in the hotel would show the games. Stupid.
There's a mandatory credit charged to the room for the bar or coffee shop. Two of the three mornings we were there, the coffee shop wasn't open when I left the hotel. I can sort of understand at 6:45 am (one of the 2 days), but the second day the coffee shop was still closed at 8:15 when I headed out to meet a friend. So, we finished our stay with an unused credit because it was impossible to use it.
The rooms are stylish with lots of University of Washington references. But there are no drawers, and no dresser, to store clothes; the choices were dark shelves under the TV or dark shelves inside the armoire. Stumbling around in the dark trying not to wake my partner, it was hard to find the clothes I needed to put on. Stupid.
A $100/night Best Western has a small refrigerator in the room. Not here. I guess I should have read the room amenities more carefully, but honestly, it didn't occur to me a hotel this expensive could be this cheap.
One last thing: the light switch for the bathroom outside and far enough away from the door that you have to open the door fully to turn it on. I get up early, my partner doesn't. Such poor design, just thoughtless.
I want to be clear that the staff were great; they offered repeatedly to do what they could to make things right. But they couldn't replace the bedside lamp, they couldn't get the TV to connect, they couldn't get the coffee shop open . . . So their repeated offers were pretty empty. All these issues are structural, in the design of the room and the hotel. They meant to do things this way. Staff seemed proud to work there, but man, I would be embarrassed to be part of a facility so clearly inept.

Cool, fun, but very loud old hotel.
Pros:

This is a cool old hotel with style but it comes at a cost. Not in price mind you, but in space and quiet. We were in town for a wedding nearby and decided to stay here based on the location. The view from the room was great but the rooms are tiny, NYC tiny. That's OK but the noise levels are not so much. The hotel's design is not great as the elevators, ice machines and rooms themselves are all packed tightly together into a small space echoing each door close, each elevator open, each ice withdrawal loudly. Add on the fact that they've got some sort of nightclub on the roof that acts as a "exclusive" club not he weekends, with loud dance music, lots of partying voices and screams and a design that pumps all those sounds directly into the rooms below. Pair in the location and the fact that it's basically in a college town, and you have a loud hotel.

So while it's a decent 3star (def not a 4), I would not stay here again. However, if you're in town to have fun, dont mind an older bathroom and lots of noise, it's a fine hotel. It was clean, safe and not too expensive but know what you're getting into before you go and you'll have a great time. Did not have any bad experiences with anyone, staff was professional and kind. Its just a loud building, nothing much they can do about that...

A central hotel, with nice staff, cool vibe and great rooftop views.
Pros:

The location is very close to everything we needed. The room was huge and comfortable.

Cons:

The room needed better outlets by the beds for charging. There were stray hairs in the beds. So even though it was clean it made it feel a bit icky. And the drip coffee from the coffee shop downstairs was not good.

A NICE BREAK
Pros:

the room

Cons:

you had to go through a certain exit which is normally locked that staff has to open (sometimes it takes a minute). Also the parking rate is $50 per day. Plenty of paid street parking a block or two away though

Cool hotel, thin walls
Pros:

I really liked this hotel itself. It has fun decor, a good vibe, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooftop bar is a nice bonus with great views of the city. The rooms are on the small side, the bathroom is tiny, and the room feels cramped with all the furniture. $55 for parking is steep given there are garages a 5 minute walk away that are $15 per night.
The hotel is definitely showing its age, and the biggest issue is the lack of sound insulation. The walls are incredibly thin. There was a guest in the room next to us getting sick throughout the night and into the morning, and we could hear everything as if they were in our room. It was pretty unpleasant.
The other issue was the smell of marijuana. Around 8 a.m. someone nearby started smoking, and the odor came straight into our room. Based on other reviews, this doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident.
It’s disappointing because there are a lot of things to like here. The staff seem to be working hard and doing their best, but there’s only so much they can do when the building itself has these kinds of limitations.

Pros:

The mountaineering club restaurant had exceptional views. The vibe is laid back.

Cons:

It’s incredibly expensive. The parking and fees are very costly and I felt assaulted by a card on the nightstand expressing that I should offer extra money to the cleaning staff. I’m sorry but it was a very expensive stay and I paid for a clean room. Hilton should pay their staff a comfortable wage. It’s not the client’s responsibility. This is a rich corporation that can afford decent salaries.

Fantastic historic Seattle hotel
Pros:

I am perplexed by the low ratings. This is not a coolie cutter Hilton. It is historic. Built in the 30s. Great location, well maintained. Restaurant and coffee shop are great. Excellent service. Clean. In middle of everything.
