EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING THE HOTEL WAS BEAUTIFUL
ALL The Staff especially Sarah and Paula were fantastic
There is no mistaking that this is a former palace - it's a beautiful building with stunning reception rooms, ornamented to the max, and fabulous extensive gardens. There's also no mistaking it's a 5-star celebrity venue, from the signed photos on the corridor near reception (from Madonna to Jane Fonda and Prince Albert of Monaco, via Beckham and Ronaldo). The highlight for us was the open-air pool, which looks ornamental (oval with central fountain) but was actually perfect for a 'serious' swim -- ca. 25m long, unheated but not too cold, even in May, and perfect for a pre-breakfast kilometre. Great for relaxing by in the afternoon. There's also an indoor pool and fitness suite. Our bedroom was large and beautifully appointed; although it was in a more modern annex, you couldn't tell from the interior decor. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly; you felt immediately welcome and that no request was a problem. Huge array of hot and cold options at breakfast, taken in another sumptuously appointed set of rooms. For what you get, the price is not at all unreasonable (and beats modern 5* options hands down).
Over-enthusiastic room service (I don't want my pyjamas extracted from under my pillow and re-arranged on the bed, or clothes moved from one side of the room to the other). Similarly, the annoying habit of whisking your plate away at breakfast when you haven't finished -- you've just paused to contemplate another delicious pastry. Also, a kettle in the room would have been nice -- we don't all like Nespresso machines and sometimes want tea.
Hotel excelente, com equipe técnica preparada, ótimas instalações, um hotel novo integrado a um palácio histórico. Muito agradável para lazer e eventos.
Fica um pouco afastado, mas nada que para Lisboa faça muita diferença
