Reasonable but not what I was expecting from photographs. Reception staff were so helpful!
Pros:

Location was good. Staff were brilliant and rooms very clean. Quiet despite a beer garden next door

Cons:

Rooms were ‘claustrophobic ‘ . At the end of low ceiling hallway, the room also had low ceilings which can be confronting if you suffer from claustrophobia.

Nur die Lage hat uns überzeugt
Pros:

Das Stay Central Hotel liegt mitten in der Innenstadt Edinburghs. Alles ist fußläufig erreichbar. Das Zimmer war sehr groß. Für zwei Personen gab es es ein riesiges Zimmer mit zwei Doppelbetten. Das Bett war sehr bequem. Das Frühstück haben wir nicht in Anspruch genommen.

Cons:

Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Eine Renovierung wäre in vielen Bereichen angesagt.
Die Aussicht aus dem Fenster ging hinaus auf eine Hinterhoftreppe und eine riesige Mauer. Tageslicht Fehlanzeige. Nebenan befindet sich ein Musikclub. Hier läuft ohrenbetäubende Musik bis spät in die Nacht. Da helfen leider auch die bereitgelegten Ohrenstöpsel nichts mehr. An Schlaf ist nicht zu denken gewesen. Das Bad ist zwar großzügig. Die Fugen schreien allerdings nach dringender Renovierung.

For the price paid, disappointing room and experience.

Cons:

Lights in room kept going on and off. TV had very poor signal - no channels worked. AC did not work properly. The hotel did send someone in straightaway to have a look at the problems but they were not fixed. I mentioned this at checkout again.

Morgenmaden var god. Ikke stor, men god. Personalet var hele vejen igennem søde og hjælpsomme

Cons:

Stort executive-dobbelt- eller 2-personersværelse, det var hvad vi bestilte, og vi gav 311 pund for dette ophold. Sengen var elendig. Der var ikke aircondition på værelset. Lige over sengen i forenden er en indblæsning, hvor varmen stod og blæset varm luft ind, og det var rigtig varmt at være på værelset. Det var ikke rent. Vinduerne var så beskidte at det næste ikke var til at se ud af dem. Vi havde den tvivlsomme fornøjelse af at have udsigt til en ulækker og beskidt baggård. På grund af varmen måtte vi åbne vinduerne, det betød så at vi havde glæde af det vintilationsanlæg der summende uden for vinduet. Om morgenen viste det sig at det var udsugningen fra et køkken, og der stank i rummet af mad. Det var simpelthen under alt kritik, og lever kun på morgenmaden og personalets behandling op til den beskrivelse der er på booking. Tænk at det kun var 50 pund billigere end Marriot hvor vi boede dagen før. Badeværelset var klamt, gulvet i værelset var i stykker. Det var ikke i nærheden af det vi bestilte: Large Executive Double or Twin Room: 1 large double”

Great location, and comfortable stay in the heart of Edinburgh
Pros:

For a hotel during the Fringe, this was in an excellent place, and you couldn't hear the sounds of the revellers in the street and venue outside. The staff were very helpful and quickly came up with solutions when we had a few problems in the room.

Cons:

Sadly the air conditioning didn't work for one of the nights, so they moved us room at 1am. I know accommodation at the Edinburgh fringe is expensive, but you could have a room at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean for a night here during the fringe. I accepted that's the situation and all the central hotels bump up the prices over the Fringe. But it is sad to see the shows trying to make do on £17 a ticket for their show to cover the actors, back stage and front of house when the hotels are making over 15 times that per room per night, and I bet the staff at the hotels are on standard wage throughout the year. The risk is that accommodation is pricing people out of seeing low cost theatre.
