Arc La Rambla

An extra chair in the room and some TV programs in English

When we arrived we were given a room which was not the same as advertised, there was a very unpleasant smell in the room and we had to ask to be moved. They did move us but we got dirty looks from the staff after that. The room we were moved to was the type we had actually booked. The "courtyard view" is non existent or rather there's no courtyard its a view of dirty walls. Overall a 2 star hotel really

No coffee maker, no microwave

La chambre était très petite, sombre et dégageait une forte odeur de cigarette. La fenêtre donnait sur une toute petite cour intérieure, sombre et sale, ce qui ne permettait pas vraiment d’aérer la chambre. Nous avons donc préféré ne pas ouvrir la fenêtre.
L’ensemble était assez décevant par rapport au prix et à nos attentes.

They sold a taxi service to the airport falsely / the taxi didn’t pick us up on time and at 4:45am with large suitcases we were forced to run outside / it was terrible and we were still charged extra for the service / do not stay here.

Unfortunately, despite the staff at Arc La Rambla being very friendly and helpful, we would not stay at this hotel again because of the lack of transparency regarding the major construction works taking place directly outside the hotel.

We booked two Ramblas View rooms for three nights and paid €1,248. At no point when booking through Booking.com were we made aware of the extensive works taking place immediately outside the hotel.

The noise during the day was unbearable. This wasn’t simply the normal noise you would expect from staying on La Rambla – it was heavy construction noise. Even with our balcony doors completely closed, the noise inside the rooms was extremely loud.

We completely appreciate that the hotel has no control over public works taking place on La Rambla. Our complaint is not that the works were happening; it is that we were not told about them before we booked and paid for rooms specifically overlooking La Rambla.

What makes this particularly disappointing is that we have since discovered reviews from guests months before our stay complaining about exactly the same construction works and noise. The hotel had even responded to some of those reviews, so they were clearly aware that the works were significantly affecting guests.

Had we been properly informed before booking, we could have made an informed decision about whether to stay here, book rooms away from La Rambla, or choose another hotel. Instead, we arrived to discover the situation after we had already paid.

We raised the issue during our stay. Although an alternative interior room was eventually offered, this would have meant giving up the two separate rooms we had specifically booked, and by that point we were near the end of our stay.

The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, it was clean, and I want to stress again that the staff we dealt with were very pleasant. This review isn’t a criticism of them personally.

However, for us, transparency is extremely important.

The room was practically windowless. The keys worked more often than not.
