The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

We recently concluded a wonderful three-week holiday in Singapore and Thailand, with our final stay in Singapore spent at the Fullerton Hotel.

There is much to like about this property. Its location is exceptional, arguably one of the best in Singapore, and our room offered a fantastic view of Marina Bay Sands. The staff were welcoming and professional, and overall we enjoyed our stay.

That said, there were several aspects of the experience that fell short of what I would expect from a luxury five-star hotel. Our room was surprisingly small, with very limited space to unpack two suitcases comfortably. As a result, we spent much of our stay living out of our luggage and manoeuvring around it.

More significantly, the room itself felt tired and in need of refurbishment. There was a noticeable damp, musty smell throughout our stay, the carpets were stained in places, paint was peeling, and some of the fixtures and fittings felt dated. The balcony access doors were particularly awkward and antiquated to operate. I am not sure whether a renovation programme is planned, but if not, I believe investment in updating the rooms would greatly enhance the guest experience and help the hotel better reflect its five-star status.

I also found some of the pricing difficult to justify. Being charged around S$60 for a cup of tea, a coffee, and two orange juices felt excessive, even by Singapore luxury hotel standards.

Perhaps the hotel is still benefiting from its historic reputation and grandeur, but the luxury hotel market in Singapore has become increasingly competitive. Having also stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore, as well as the Ritz-Carlton and Banyan Tree in Koh Samui during this trip, I felt those properties delivered a noticeably higher standard of accommodation and overall experience at a similar price point.

Would I stay at the Fullerton again? Probably not. For me, the Mandarin Oriental offers a superior experience in a similarly convenient Marina Bay location.

That said, we did genuinely enjoy our stay, and I do not wish this review to come across as overly negative. The Fullerton remains an iconic Singapore hotel in a superb location, but in its current state I believe the guest rooms no longer fully match the expectations associated with a leading luxury five-star property.

We had a lovely time here! Afternoon tea was delicious, we especially loved the savoury spread and the bacha cofffee. Special shout out to Winnie, who took such great care of us and our little baby. She went out her way to make sure that we are comfortable and had all our needs met (drinking water for baby, replacement cutleries and some strawberries to keep our baby on her seat). she is a great conversationalist too, the afternoon tea is more enjoyable because of her, thank you Winnie!

Amazing building, facilities and location. Service was amazing and nothing was too much trouble.

One of the best stays I have ever had anywhere in the world. The service from the staff was wonderful. So much care and attention to the guest experiences from every single part of the hotel team.

My recent stay at Fullerton Hotel was truly memorable.

From the moment before check-in, the team was attentive, responsive, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was arranged seamlessly. The arrival experience immediately set the tone for what would be a wonderful stay.

The room was elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained.

A special mention must go to the team at The Straits Club Lounge. The hospitality was outstanding throughout our stay. The warmth, professionalism, and sincere care shown by the team made us feel valued and at home.

I would especially like to thank John, Han, Sahul, Soo Jin, Shi Mei, Liyana, Ryan, and the entire lounge team for their exceptional service. Each of them contributed to making our stay special in their own way, whether through thoughtful conversations, attentive service, or simply remembering the little details that matter.

This is the first time we have stayed at The Fullerton but it won’t be our last. This hotel is simply fantastic. It’s in a great location (within walking distance of lots of the top attractions) and the staff are just amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. Daniel who looks after everyone by the pool is wonderful. The various people who look after the rooms are also wonderful. I left an open book face down on the bed and when we came back one of the room team and put a bookmark in it and left it neatly on the bedside table - a small but very thoughtful gesture. If you get the chance to stay in Singapore, the Fullerton is a really fabulous hotel to stay in.

結婚25周年記念で初めての滞在となりましたが、お部屋にanniversaryのケーキを用意してくださったりお部屋も予約した部屋よりアップグレードしていただき本当に感動でした。全てが素晴らしく満足でした。

The bellman who handled my luggage and assisted me while I waited for my room to be available was particularly helpful. I arrived early morning and did not have my room until 1:30 so I needed to get showered in their spa area and change clothing after a 25-hour trip. I think his name was Vic or something like that.
My expansive room included a balcony with an amazing view. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at the Fullerton Hotel.

very nice experience. it was our 520 celebration and Zona surprised us with a photo and a card!

Dined at Town restuarant, great food, prompt and friendly service from Saisunee!
