It had been a number of years since I've last done an overnight at this hotel, so I decided to stay again for a couple of nights. This full-service 12 story hotel overlooks a lake in a commercial development.
I stayed in room 410, a standard king bed room that didn't have a view of the lake (those cost extra). Oddly, the room numbering isn't the standard "odd numbers on one side, even numbers on the other side" scheme in just about every other hotel, which takes a bit to get used to. You'll need to scan your key card to take the elevator to upper floors, and it limits access to the specific floor that your room is on. More hotels should do this for added security. However, you'll have to meet food delivery drivers in the lobby.
The property has been renovated since my last visit. Most of the bathrooms now have walk-in showers, so if you need a bathtub, you'll probably have to go with an ADA-standard room. The room was clean and furniture was in good condition. A refrigerator and microwave were in the cabinet under the TV, which I'll mention since some other full-service hotels still don't have them. Wi-fi worked well except for a couple brief slowdowns.
Breakfast costs extra, so I didn't partake. I did grab dinner at their on-site restaurant, Edgewater. My burger was pretty good; the menu selection was a bit limited, and most meals besides salads or sandwiches were on the expensive side. Staff was friendly. The hotel offers outdoor pool and patio, as well as numerous conference and meeting rooms. Parking costs $10/night, and I always find parking charges for unsecured and uncovered parking lots to be a bit absurd (not to mention that parking was free when I last visited.)
The Hilton University Place is an older, full service hotel, with an attractive, upscale decor thanks to the recent renovations. My visit was without issue and as long as you don't mind parking fees and extra-cost breakfast, you can't go wrong with staying here.
